**Summary**
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, including the management of the production staff. The Production Supervisor shall ensure that production schedules are completed on time, and meet quality standards.
**Reporting Structure**
Reports to the Production Manager
**Duties Include**
- Direct and coordinate the activities of employees on the production floor and maintenance and quality on the off shift.
- Monitor the production process, make periodic checks and adjusts equipment or work practices according to standard operating procedures.
- Ensure equipment is in working order and that working conditions are safe at all times.
- Verify the readiness of the production line at start-up and supervise change overs.
- Manage overall product quality to ensure all standards and specifications are met.
- Increase worker efficiency and production rates while maintaining high quality parts.
- Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion to meet the customer timelines.
- Monitor the production process to ensure that quality parts are produced at all times and scrap is mínimal.
- Ensure employees have the required raw materials to produce finished product.
- Confer with management and human resources to resolve employee problems and complaints.
- Conduct monthly safety talks with all employees.
- Ensure employees are trained on all job specific requirements and monitor training activities in their department.
- Ensure operators are following standard work instructions and completing all necessary documentation.
- Work with employees to correct unfavorable behaviours and if necessary conduct corrective counseling in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Work and ensure that all employees work in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations and Company Policies
- Act as an employee resource for questions and concerns.
- Responsible for performance management

- Provide motivation for employees, increasing morale
- Monitor and assess employee performance
- Work with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
- Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training
- Read and analyze work orders, production schedules and other records / reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
- Provide training, coaching, and mentorship for all production staff
- Investigate production processes within the plant and initiate changes when necessary.
- Enforce and maintain all safety rules and regulations, as per company policies and procedures and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Follow up on other shift activities.
- Manage time and attendance records of direct reports.
- Ensure that accurate information and paperwork is reported.
- Communicate problems with other departments (HR, maintenance, quality, engineering etc.)
- Review production results and take/recommend corrective action when necessary.
- Respect and enforce ISO policies and the company's quality system.
- Perform daily Quality audits and input results into system.
- Assist with forecasting and planning within the plant
- Ensure all company policies and procedures including Health and Safety are followed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
**Education, Skills and Experience**
- College diploma or related experience.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience as a production supervisor
- Demonstrated working experience in a manufacturing environment
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong aptitude for implementing change within an organization.
- Solid people management skills, including training, development, discipline, and mentorship.
