**About Company**:
Antic Games, a remote-first indie game studio based in Vancouver, BC, thrives on creative collaboration. We're currently pouring our collective talents into SuperColony, our debut title for PC and Console. It's not just a game; it's a reflection of our love for RTS, intricate gameplay mechanics, a light-hearted art style filled with comedic moments, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. SuperColony is a real-time ant colony simulation game set in the hostile world of insects. The game features a complex collective ant colony behavior and its ability to survive in the ever-changing environment. Players start with a small ant colony and will build their anthill, harvest resources, and attack with armies to clear out areas of the map. But wait, there is a catch The player’s ant colony is unique in that it can direct its evolution. To expand and overcome the hostile environment, players would need to construct new castes with special abilities.

We invite you to become a key part of an aspiring indie studio, improving the gaming experience for our players, while wearing multiple creative hats. It’s going to be amazing. Together, we’ll build something big, bold, and beautiful.

**Position Overview**:
A day in this role could look like: concepting creatures for a future biome, refining visuals for 3D models via paint overs so they read better in-game. Concepting VFX for a set of creature special skills, which includes suggestions for game design/new mechanics, but also implies a requirement for understanding the way the game works/the constraints, and working within those efficiently. There is a lot of space for growth and to contribute within this role.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Understand the project, and share your ideas
- Collaborate with the art director to develop and implement the artistic vision of SuperColony.
- Create 2D/3D concept mock-ups of environments, and all the flora and fauna included in different biomes.
- Participate by sharing ideas to improve the art pipelines/workflows, with an overall mindset towards production efficiency and creative collaboration.
- 2D UI Concepts &.png sprite exports. Icons & screen layouts.
- Provide support to other team members to ensure visual consistency is maintained during Unity integration, which requires playtesting and follows up on handed off tasks.
- Continuously seek to improve your skills and stay updated on industry trends and techniques. Share new techniques with the team.

**Qualifications**:

- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor Program or higher graduating after December 2024.
- Available to work from May 2024 to the end of August 2024, full-time 30/40 hours per week.
- A portfolio is the main criteria. It should demonstrate your ability and be relevant to the project, i.e. stylized art styles, shape design, bold colors, dynamic compositions.
- Proficiency in industry-standard art tools and software, such as Photoshop.
- Basic understanding of game art pipelines and the ability to adapt to new tools and workflows.
- Excellent communication skills with a high degree of English language comprehension.
- The ability to work effectively in a remote, team-oriented environment with daily communications via Discord & Google Chat calls & Jira ticket updates.
- Passion for games and a desire to create engaging experiences for players.

**Bonus Skills**:

- Experience with Unity.
- Knowledge of 3D modelling, animation, and texturing - Blender, or Maya.
- Familiarity with the following genres: RTS, Strategy, Colony sims, or Exploration.
- Generalist experience beyond 2D Concept / Illustration skill sets.
