**Description**:

- Reporting to the Coordinator of the Learning Commons, the Pedagogical Counsellor supports the academic sector by organizing the activities of the Centre d’aide en français (CAF).
- More specifically, but not limited to, the Pedagogical Counsellor:
- Collaborates with the College’s French Department to offer students tutoring and support related to French Second-Language courses and French literature courses, including:

- recruiting and training tutors;
- pairing tutors and tutees;
- tracking tutor hours and compensation, and;
- organizing workshops.- In collaboration with the College’s French Department, offers students support related to the Épreuve uniforme de français, including:

- group information sessions on the structure of the exam and strategies for taking it;
- individual assistance to students who have questions or specific challenges, and;
- keeping abreast of developments relating to the exam and sharing the information with teachers and students.- Liaises with the College community to assess the impact of Law 14 on student success, identify new needs and propose out-of-classroom supports to meet them;
- Collaborates with data analysts in PSI and TASC to create a statistical and qualitative portrait of student success in areas affected by Law 14, tracking the success of students in their French courses and the Épreuve uniforme de français;
- Collaborates with other departments offering courses in French to offer students tutoring and support;
- Manages the physical space of the CAF;
- Promotes the services of the CAF to students and their teachers;
- Administers the budget of the CAF;
- Stays abreast of the Student Success Plan, by-laws, policies, and information relevant to student success across the college and the CEGEP network;
- Participates in pertinent student success focused taskforces, committees, and/or work groups, including the Carrefour de la réussite as one of the REPFRAN for the college;
- Contributes to Learning Commons team-wide mandates and special projects.

Other related duties which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours/week) - with schedule flexibility when necessary

- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, French Literature, French as a Second Language, or related field.

Conditions related to the specific position:
- Excellent written and oral French language skills (to be tested);
- Master’s degree in Education, French Literature, French as a second language or related field (an asset);
- Very good written and oral English skills (to be tested);
- In-depth knowledge of the Épreuve uniforme de français;
- In-depth knowledge of the Cégep system and programs;
- Experience working with students in a tutoring setting;
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (to be tested);
- Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and implement multiple projects simultaneously and work to meet competing deadlines and changing priorities;
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and leadership competencies;
- Excellent capacity to analyze, synthesize, and report;
- Demonstrated ability to work with groups.
