**Salary: 80-90K CAD**

WES is looking for a communications manager to join the enterprise communications team and play a central role in helping to build and execute communications plans that tell the story of WES’ work as a leading social enterprise.

**Duties include but are not limited to the following**:
**Strategic Communications and Brand Advocacy**
- Develop enterprise messaging briefs, fact sheets, and collateral
- Build social media campaigns and manage social media channels in collaboration with social impact communications/marketing and growth marketing
- Create high quality communications assets in partnership with copy chief and design specialists
- Participate in and lead editorial and communications planning meetings to coordinate with teams and strategize opportunities
- Become an advocate for the WES Style Guide and adherence to brand standards

**Internal Communications**
- Help to plan and produce key internal events such as town halls, all-hands, and WES Speaker Series
- Advise leaders and colleagues on how to communicate effectively across the organization; play significant role in drafting and executing communications that enable multi-year business transformation
- Manage internal communications and events calendar in collaboration with human resources, chief of staff, and employee resource groups
- Collaborate with Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging to ensure all communications uphold WES values and further our efforts to build a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace for all

**Media Relations**
- Develop and pitch compelling stories to targeted media contacts in relevant sector publications, local and national media in Canada and the U.S., as well as international publications
- Write talking points and briefing notes for spokespeople
- Generate ideas and opportunities to place WES spokespeople in media

**People Management**
- Develop and manage senior communications associate
- Indirectly manage colleagues across the communications unit on key projects
- Participate in regular management trainings and meetings
- Be highly collaborative with an innate ability to build relationships across teams and sectors
- Have a deep curiosity and openness to new ideas and perspectives
- Possess knowledge of and interest in international higher education, global migration, social enterprise, and/or social impact work
- Have a keen awareness of the differing needs of Canadian and U.S. media landscape and audiences
- Have an attentive eye for detail; excellent copywriting, editing, and proof-reading skills

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in communications roles, including broad experience in internal and external communications
- Experience managing communications vendors - agencies, writers, videographers, photographers, editors, and so on
- Proficiency with technical communications tools such as Cision, Salesforce, WordPress, and Hootsuite, etc.
- Exceptional writing skills, including proven ability to communicate and synthesize complex issues in a concise, clear, and convincing fashion
- Exceptional PowerPoint skills
