**This is a Hybrid role located in Ottawa**

**Position Summary**

**Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility**

The Digital Discipline Team Lead’s primary responsibilities are to:

- Build the Strategic Workforce planning
- Liaise with the Innovation Team to forecast Digital orientations of the business
- Liaise with Thales Group Digital Champions to build a network of expertise that can be leveraged in bids and projects
- Animate the discipline by bringing expertise and relying on recognized referents within Thales
- Ensure business continuity
- Capitalize and share skills in an environment of employee mobility
- Recruit future talent and manages career plans / employee mobility in a short/medium/long term vision
- Support the bid and projects by estimating costs, monitoring the actuals and then forecasting costs against the baseline budget

**People Management**
- Provides oversight and direction to a team of employees within the department in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Coaches, mentors, and develops staff, including overseeing new employees onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Leads employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment.
- Fosters a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for cohesiveness, support, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the department to succeed.
- Works with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.

**Minimum Requirements: Skills, Experience, Education, Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Certifications, Language**
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent education with relevant experience.
- Experience: 7+ years experience in a Software/Systems engineering environment and in managing high performing teams
- Technical/Specialized Knowledge: at least 5 years of professional experience in two or more disciplines among Network, Cybersecurity, DevOps, AI, Cloud, UX design/Human Factor and data science.
- Certifications: P.Eng. or CET or eligible to obtain P.Eng or CET.
- Ability to develop and agree project budgets by estimating costs, managing actual and forecast costs against the baseline budget and controlling costs by accurately analysing and managing variances.
- Ability to orient solutions and estimations based on capitalized knowledge of the organisation.
- Excellent English communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills required to succeed on multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to implement Lean or Agile principles and methods in engineering teams, to identify, estimate and prioritise Customer Value, grow knowledge incrementally through test & learn approaches and track its delivery.
- Recognized for ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and externally with customers.
- Strong business acumen and ability to identify and address issues within a complex business environment.
- Ability to demonstrate self-awareness, to invest in the development of others and to encourage a culture of feedback.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience: In addition to the minimum professional experience specified above, experience in any of the following areas would be considered an asset: Experience in defence

Experience in managing hardware and software IT Environments

Experience in Virtual Computing
- Technical/Specialized Knowledge: Experience with naval, land C4ISR, autonomous systems would be an asset. Experience with IT Systems and Networks
- Language: French fluency would be an asset

**Physical Demands**
- Minimal lifting of test and electronic equipment, connecting equipment in a lab environment or job site (including onboard vehicle or vessel).
