**Fixed Term Contract Role**: This is a 18 fixed term contract role.

**This is what you will do**:
The Medical Advisor is a office based scientific expert that strategically supports the medical and scientific objectives of Alexion’s product/s across the product/s life cycle. He/she is a peer scientific expert who communicates accurate and applicable science to Healthcare Practitioners (HCPs). In addition, the Medical Advisor manages and maintains professional relationships with HCPs and identifies and facilitates collaboration opportunities with Alexion.

The Medical Advisor combines strong business acumen and clinical expertise and serves as a peer-to-peer liaison internally and externally. Cross functional collaboration and the fostering of strong relationships across the organization both locally and globally will be an important measure of success, demanding an individual with strong influencing skills, a collaborative approach and strategic business acumen.

**You will be responsible for**:

- Provide strategic and national field support to Alexion’s complement inhibitor the growing neurology franchise covering gMG and NMO therapeutic areas
- Assist the Medical Director in planning the overall national medical strategy.
- Develop and maintain peer-to-peer collaborations and relationships with key medical experts in a relevant therapeutic area.
- Collaborate with physicians on medical affairs initiatives including publications, local collaborative research initiatives, advisory boards, medical education opportunities, training and speaker development programs.
- Serve as scientific peer-to-peer resource to disease experts in applicable therapeutic area. Support the medical community with up-to-date medical information, robust disease expertise and product information.
- Communicate expert opinions and feedback on new data to Alexion Medical Affairs and therapeutic area franchises.
- Provide medical and scientific input into the planning and execution of advisory boards and work with physician experts to review speaker presentations and provide medical references where requested.
- Respond to unsolicited medical information requests, manage questions and liaise with headquarters personnel to ensure proper response has been provided and that data is fair and balanced.
- Champion Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) proposals and serve as conduit for respective projects.
- Support clinical initiatives including site identification, trial recruitment, local phase 4 execution, registry and presentation of final approved data.
- Develop and implement regional medical strategy to increase disease awareness and ensure appropriate management.
- Maintain compliance with all internal and external legal and regulatory guidelines.

**You will need to have**:

- PharmD or Phd in biological sciences or a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Science degree
- Substantial industry experience or equivalent (>5 years)
- 3+ years MSL experience
- Robust and current experience in the therapeutic areas relating to recently launched and marketed biologics/ therapies a distinct advantage
- Previous experience in a rare or ultra-rare disease environment a distinct advantage.
- Strong ability and experience to present complex scientific data
- Proven track record of relationship development in the industry.
- Well-established networks and active relationships with TA-focused experts are highly preferred
- Energetically embraces responsibilities, demonstrates ability to achieve goals
- Has a strong personal initiative, and functions well as part of a cross-functional team
- Exhibits excellent time management and able to work independently
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills and high-level job competencies
- Office is based role. Travel within region is required
- Required travel to medical meetings, team meetings and other group meetings (will require some weekends)
