Waterloo, Canada Accelerator Centre Full time

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Manager of Finance is responsible for all internal accounting functions, payroll, benefit administration, forecasting, budget preparation, and preparation of Board reports. This position also coordinates financial & metric reporting for all Government funding across all Accelerator Centre programs. The duties described below are for Waterloo Accelerator Centre and Waterloo Accelerator Program Inc.:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Finance & Administration**
- Accountable for all daily accounting functions, including, but not limited to, payables/receivables, invoicing, employee expenses, bank reconciliations and CRA remittances. Manage the corporate credit card accounts & investment portfolio.
- Responsible for training and supervision of finance staff.
- Responsible for compilation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting (for both internal & external sources)
- Preparation of annual budget that is aligned to organizational objectives in the Annual Plan and tracking departmental spend
- Present annual budget, audit results and quarterly financial statements to the Audit Committee and Board of Directors for approval.
- Performing financial modelling and analysis, including forecasting models
- Responsible for the annual audit, including compilation of working papers, liaising with auditors, and preparation of financial statements
- Ensure that the CEO and the management team receive the financial and operation information required to operate the business.
- Annual Risk Management & Fraud Assessment and delivery to Board.
- Retaining constant awareness of the company’s financial position and being proactive in relation to potential problems
- Overseeing the company’s finance systems and documentation with a constant eye towards process improvement and implementing new tools if necessary
- Prepare and update financial data dashboards to ensure tracking of timely and accurate information
- Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines

**Government Funding**
- Set-up all accounts as necessary for special projects and Government funded programs. Liaise with Government partners and responsibility for all monthly, quarterly and/or annual reporting.
- Responsible for submission of related financial reporting.
- Work with the Programs Team to coordinate metric collection (monthly, annually, quarterly) and preparation of related Government reporting & requests.

**Human Resources**
- Manage the compensation process (payroll, MERC & other benefits) and provide insights during budget planning for staff compensation.
- Responsible for setting up new employees within the payroll system
- Support HR processes, procedures and professional relationships in relation to finance and the creation of relevant documentation.

**DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
- You have a post-secondary education in accounting and/or financial management, are a designated accounting professional (or working towards) and have 5+ years related workplace experience.
- You are proficient with Accounting software (QBO, Xero), Microsoft Office, and other finance tools and are eager to learn as well as implement new systems or tools.
- Previous experience with government programming is a definite asset.
- Previous experience with Hubspot or similar CRMs and modern sales processes
- You take initiative and can manage multiple tasks and multiple directions. You demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- You can function with ease in a team environment and are ready/willing/able to help in all areas of the business.
- You are able to find opportunity in every task and support any AC entities, activities or teams as necessary (“other duties as assigned”).
