**PSA Halifax **is recruiting for a **Commercial Manager**

PSA Halifax Limited Partnership (PSA Halifax) is a container terminal operator owned and operated by PSA International. With natural deep water, capability to handle any sized vessel, year-round ice-free access, and a management team with diverse international experience, PSA Halifax is the container terminal of choice on Canada's East Coast. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a highly successful and leading container terminal operation in the East Coast of Canada.

**DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE**

The primary responsibility of the Commercial Manager is to identify, pursue and execute commercial and business development opportunities for PSA Halifax. The role is responsible for maximizing revenue, attracting and building customer relationships with existing shipping lines and BCO's. The position will negotiate and close new business deals and identify new potential customers while working customer/client strategies in the acquisition of new business.

**PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Business Development**: Identify and pursue opportunities to attract new customers, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term business relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders in the shipping industry. Manage new commercial projects and business development initiatives to drive revenue growth. These projects can include port+ initiatives such as investment projects in new business and value-added services such as container depots, warehousing, transport and intermodal services.

**Customer Relations**: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers, ensuring their satisfaction with port services and addressing any concerns or issues promptly. Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and tailor services accordingly.

**Pricing and Contract Management**: Develop pricing strategies based on market analysis, competitive intelligence, and the port's operational costs. Negotiate commercial terms, rates, and contracts with customers, ensuring profitability while remaining competitive in the market.

**Revenue Optimization**: Continuously analyze and evaluate revenue streams and identify opportunities for improvement. Implement strategies to increase cargo volumes, reduce operational costs, and enhance overall port profitability.

**Market Analysis**: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify new business opportunities and stay ahead of market changes. Conduct market research and analysis to assess the demand for port services and identify potential areas for growth.

**Marketing and Promotion**: Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote the port's services and attract new customers. Create marketing materials and customer pitch decks, participate in industry conferences, and engage in networking activities.

**Contract Compliance**: Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, terms, and conditions. Monitor service levels, performance indicators, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure that contractual requirements are met or exceeded.

**Stakeholder Coordination**: Collaborate with internal departments such as operations, finance, and legal to align commercial activities with the port's overall objectives. Coordinate with external stakeholders, including customs authorities, shipping lines, and regulatory bodies, to ensure smooth operations and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

**Financial Analysis**: Prepare commercial reports, budgets, and top line forecasts related to commercial activities. Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and take appropriate actions to achieve financial targets.

**Communications and Customer Engagement**: Prepare press releases and general terminal updates and circulate them to customers and stakeholders. Organize customer and stakeholder engagement events such as (One Port City Day, Halifax Supply Chain Forum and PSA Charity Golf Tournament).

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- A bachelor's degree in business finance, economics, sales and marketing or equivalent
- 5+ years prior experience in Commercial and Business development in the Ports and Shipping industry
- Must have excellent Excel and financial analysis skills
- Must be able to create presentations and marketing pitch materials using PowerPoint or equivalent.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a strategic thinker and have strong negotiation skills
- Possess a collaborative mindset and work well as part of a team
- Superior time management abilities and capable of meeting deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to build strong relationships with clients and industry contacts
