**Full Job Description**

The Infection Prevention and Control Manager ensures that there is an organized infection prevention and control program that meets regulatory requirements and is in line with Provincial Infectious Disease Advisory Committee (PIDAC) standards. As the Infection, Prevention and Control Manager, your role and responsibilities will be to assume the lead for the over-sight of the Home specific IPAC measures ensuring alignment with Sharon Village Care Homes Mission, Vision and Values. The IPAC Program embodies the philosophy of safe care and services to persons served in the prevention, early recognition and management of suspected or actual disease outbreak and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

**Essential Duties**: The Infection Prevention and Control Manager implements and oversees infection prevention and control practices that promote the safety of residents, staff and physicians.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensures staff are following IPAC processes
- Works with Public Health to manage outbreaks
- Educates staff on all IPAC practices
- Facilitates orientation for all new hires on IPAC processes
- Ensures a screening program is in place for residents and staff
- Organization of Mask Fit Testing
- Completes reporting and evaluations of IPAC
- Runs scheduled audits on hand hygiene, PPE, cleaning etc.
- Organizes flu and immunization clinics
- Works closely with the nursing team and the physicians on management of residents and staff pertaining to infection.

**Qualifications**
- Registered Nurse with completion of BSc.N preferred or Registered Practical Nurse and registered in good standing with the College of Nurses Ontario.
- Current Non-Acute Care Infection Control Professional (NAC ICP) certification preferred
- Certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) or a commitment to complete within 2 years of employment
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in infection control in the Long-Term Care or Acute Care sector required
- Member of National Infection Control Association (IPAC Canada) preferred -Training and experience in Quality Improvement is preferred
- Demonstrates effective leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in COVID-19 environment
- Need to be flexible with hours if required
- Current CPR and First Aid is required
- Solid understanding of adult learning principles and teaching methods to facilitate learning
- Ability to organize, plan, and work independently
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
