Receptionist, Long Term Care Reception Services

The Receptionist is the first contact for visitors to Providence Manor and is expected to demonstrate behaviours consistent

with our code of conduct and other relevant policies through hospitality and exemplary customer service, in keeping with

the Mission, Vision and Values of Providence Care.

**Role Responsibilities**
- Demonstration of communication skills consistent with positive customer service, including but not limited to: a

pleasant demeanor, diplomacy and sensitivity when managing challenging interactions, appropriate referral and
reporting to Administrator delegate supportive instruction to residents, visitors, staff and callers regarding “where
to turn”
- Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in routine and urgent situations of the operation of the telephone

switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing and interdepartmental calls.
- Knowledge and demonstrated competence in following emergency-code procedures and maintaining composure

when these events take place
- Performance of a variety of clerical duties with attention to detail and precision in the outcome including, but not

limited to sorting mail, facsimiles and deliveries.
- Demonstration of behaviours consistent with the protection of privacy and confidentiality in all forms of

information management, communication and performance of role responsibilities..
- Compliance with the H&S Act and its regulations in performing duties in a safe manner, following all health and

safety policies, procedures and legislation as well as reporting safety hazards in any realm of the role.
- Accordingly, the Receptionist also uses or wears the PPE / equipment as set out by Providence Care policies and

procedures, reports any missing or defective equipment or PPE to the Administrator or delegate in a timely
manner.
- Demonstrated participation and active contribution to the health of the workplace through attendance at

meetings, capitalization on learning opportunities, reporting concerns and observable behaviours consistent with
the Mission, Vision and Values of the Home.
- Willingness to accept and complete other duties as assigned as a means to contributing to a need identified by the

Administrator or delegate.
**Required Qualifications and Experience**:

- Post-secondary certification in office administration from an educational facility recognized by the province of

Ontario. An equivalent combination of education and experience in a reception or clerical position may be
considered***
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software to be determined through testing***
- Prior experience in a health-care setting is preferred
