- WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?
- You will:

- Provide manual labour support to setup and teardown of special events at Upper Canada Village.
- Perform basic carpentry to safely install special event props of varying shapes and sizes that will be exposed to the elements and accessible on the ground or from a ladder.
- Evaluate grounds and determine the requirements for support bracing, constructing, and installing bracing.
- Assist with the installation, removal, sorting, and storage of lights on trees, fences and buildings that are accessible from the ground or a ladder.
- Setup, pickup, sort, and store other miscellaneous event elements related to the event setup and teardown.
- Assist with event maintenance tasks such as troubleshooting lighting, fixing damages that occur throughout the event, and starting up/shutting down special effect sounds/lights as needed.
- Clean and clear worksite to provide safe access for equipment to work unobstructed and to maintain a high-quality visitor experience.
- Ensure proper care is taken to preserve the integrity of historic buildings, artefacts, and grounds at Upper Canada Village.
- Provide supplies to lift operator (i.e., lights, tools, staples, etc.), as required.

- HOW DO I QUALIFY?
- MANDATORY:

- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence or equivalent to operate fleet vehicles to transport materials and supplies.
- KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

- You have:

- Working knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of hand and power tools and other equipment required for the job to perform basic carpentry to install special event props and construct and install support bracing.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools to install lights, event props, signage, ropes and pickets, fencing and special effects.
- Knowledge of health and safety to work in compliance with all health and safety regulations, the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario, and SLPC policy and procedures.
- Working knowledge of the safe operation of motorized vehicles with trailers and flatbed, including UTVs.
- COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

- You have:

- The ability to interpret oral and written instructions.
- The ability to work both on a team and independently, with mínimal supervision, in a fast-paced work environment with strict deadlines.
- OTHER ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- You have:

- The ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including walking long distances, and regular lifting, carrying, and manoeuvring objects up to 50lbs., following all related safety procedures.
