Job Summary:

- The Standards Intern is an entry position into the Standards organization that allows an individual to work within the Education and Services department, while helping meet the organization’s strategic goals. The position will support the education and services department’s objectives to improve the impact of standards across various sectors (e.g., electrical, gas, health, and safety) and the supporting Standards functions (Research and Advocacy), through the delivery of education products and services.

The Standards Intern is responsible for supporting Education Product Managers (EPMs) in the preparation, coordination, and administration of education product management, including ideation, delivery, and post-delivery activities, such as customer awareness tactics and campaigns. The Standards Intern supports EPMs in meeting the timelines and budget of the project. The role could require the capacity to engage and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholder communities. The Standards Intern may be responsible for managing customer and user data assessment of relatively low complexity. The Intern may also assist Education operational staff (within marketing, legal, sales, and research) on other projects as required. The role requires an understanding of the various standards development processes and procedures, many of which are mandated under the accreditation of CSA (Canadian Standards Association) Standards by the Standards Council of Canada.
- Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of the education industry, standards industry, government policy, and industry environment-
- Understands basic marketing approaches and is familiar with product management processes and the standards funding model.-
- Responds to stakeholder needs in a timely, professional, helpful, and courteous manner as required-
- Works closely with EPMs to better understand products being developed under each portfolio.-
- Works closely with EPMs and marketing manager(s) in meeting the timelines, objectives, and budget/revenue of various projects-
- Engages and effectively communicates with diverse stakeholder community-
- Assists on special projects that align with the Education and Services strategy-
- Provides marketing, analytical, and/or technical support on education products and services-
- Coordinates all aspects of primary customer outreach (e.g., e-blasts) including preparing messaging, communication lists and follow-ups to ensure timely delivery of product details-
- Assists in the development of standards’ proposals. May include some research and analysis-
- Proposes resources and schedules for standards projects, makes recommendations to EPMs-
- Coordinates with other departments within the company that are involved with the development and publication of standards or other business opportunities relevant to education- Preferred Education and Experience:
- Minimum 3-year University undergraduate degree-
- Upto two years’ experience in Project Management-
- Interest in or working toward designation as a Certified Project Management Professional, or equivalent designation/experience-
- Strong oral and written communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills-
- Research and analytical skills-
- High degree of self-motivation-
- Strong organizational and planning skills-
- Experience in writing customer-facing content-
- Moderate market segment and project management knowledge-
- Competency with major Microsoft and Project Management software-
