Assistant Payroll Administrator

100%Term Assignment to August 31, 2024

Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week; 12 Month Work Year

ESP Level 5 - $40,552 to $51,804

Under the direction of the Team Manager, Payroll and the general supervision of the Payroll Administrators, the Assistant Payroll Administrator is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the Academic, Administrative & Support and Occasional payrolls; operates the integrated payroll system; updates and adjusts records; calculates employee payrolls; processes and completes forms for purposes of Records of Employment; prepares journal vouchers; maintains a filing system of payroll records, correspondence and other information; responds to payroll inquiries; processes adjustments relating to pension plans and completion of various pension forms; provides back-up to other Department Administrators.

**Qualifications**:
Completion of a secondary school diploma, and enrolled in 1st or 2nd Level CGA program, and two years of computerized payroll experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Enrolment in the NPI certificate program would be considered an asset;
Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures;
Knowledge of payroll and accounting procedures; computerized payroll systems and year-to-date fields, Oracle, SQL and DCL commands;
Proficient in the use of word-processing, spreadsheets and databases;
Organization and time management skills to prioritize and juggle multiple demands and meet weekly deadlines;
Interpersonal and communication skills to provide, clarify and explain information to Board personnel at all levels;
Writing skills required to prepare correspondence;
Analytical skills to review and analyze large amounts of data;
Ability to work under strict and sometimes inflexible deadlines;
Initiative and judgment skills to action pay, make adjustments, and for identifying and resolving problems/discrepancies;
Ability to use tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with confidential information;
Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
