The City of Abbotsford’s Engineering and Regional Utilities Department is seeking a self-motivated, hard-working individual to join their team as a Utility Person in the Sewers Division. In this position, you will participate in semi-skilled and manual work in the repair, maintenance and construction of sewers infrastructure.

An employee of this class works under the direction of a Sewers Works Supervisor or Tradesperson in establishing and carrying out repair, maintenance and construction duties in the sewers field. The incumbent will be required to maintain accurate records and inventories, and operate moderately large vehicles under varying traffic conditions. Performance is evaluated by a Sewer Works Supervisor or Tradesperson in terms of completion of scheduled assignments, adherence to safe work practices, technical expertise and effective performance of duties.

**Qualifications required**:

- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Completion of post secondary courses in sewers at a recognized institution
- One year experience in Sewers
- Class 5 Drivers Licence (ability to obtain Class 3 if operationally required)
- Environmental Operators Certification, Level 1 (Wastewater Collection)
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent;
- 3 months experience (minimum 500 hours) at a Class 1 (or higher) facility/system. OR;
- Completion of 90 hours (9.0 ceus’) in an approved basic operator training course.

This position is unionized, C.U.P.E Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $28.54 per hour to $33.58 per hour. In addition, the City of Abbotsford offers a comprehensive benefits package.
