This position reports directly to the Supervisor, Facilities Operations and assists with the maintenance of town owned facilities including the overall management of facility operations, plant, HVAC, building automation system, preventative maintenance, demand maintenance, coordinating major and minor repairs, fire safety, risk management, security, health & safety.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supervise, coordinate and assign work to be done, including maintenance requests. Monitor the progress of the work throughout the day to ensure priority items are being addressed on a timely basis and ensure outstanding items are resolved;
- Operate and monitor the building automation system (BAS). Monitor water treatment systems, air conditioning and boiler systems, generators and other facility related equipment;
- Monitor and operate security systems for assigned locations. Monitor monthly and annual fire prevention testing, and all other regulatory OH&S and TSSA certification requirements;
- Liaise with Supervisor in the planning and scheduling of all on-going activities and make suggestions for changes in work methods which will increase efficiency and be cost effective;
- Assist the Supervisor with cost estimations and operating and capital recommendations in addition to providing support with the monitoring of expenditures and ensuring appropriate tracking, reporting, record keeping and documentation of activities, and costs;
- Responsible for preventative maintenance work order management and timely response/close as well as acknowledging and responding to alarms and current building conditions;
- Assist with the training of employees in the safe and efficient performance of their duties;
- Monitor the inventory and control of site specific operations and makes recommendations to the Supervisor on purchases;
- Provide high quality customer service and support to the internal and external clients within the portfolio;
- Work with the Supervisor to schedule part-time and/or temporary staff;
- Coordinate maintenance, construction, and other contractors working within the facility(s);
- Respond to inquiries/concerns from suppliers, and contractors;
- Oversee the maintenance of health and safety records as required (e.g.WHMIS documentation, First Aid Kits, fire extinguishers, inspection reports, etc.);
- Management of waste, recycling and hazardous materials;
- Make recommendations for the yearly capital and operating budgets;
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Detailed understanding of various building systems including building automation systems, HVAC, fire safety and security.
- Working knowledge of the various acts and codes including OH&S act, Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code etc.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with demonstrated effective communication in both oral and written skills.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office.
- Proficient time management skills and flexibility in adjusting between a variety of duties.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision as well as part of a team. Ability to assess and problem solve.
- Fourth Class Stationary Engineer or a Journeyman Tradesperson is an asset.
- Experience with scheduling and inventory management is an asset.
- Previous experience supervising staff is an asset.
