**Summary**

Under general direction, the Event Coordinator is responsible for planning and organizing events within Noojmowin Teg Health Centre. The Event Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director, to ensure events are well coordinated and achieved.

**Job Duties**

**Provide event planning for Noojmowin Teg Health Centre**
- Coordinate, plan and organize annual conferences, meetings and other gala/events
- Develop and maintain a resource list of cultural people, elders, venues, resources and contractors
- Establish and maintain a calendar for event planning
- Coordinate and received bids for tendering
- Reserve event space and monitor the entire event proceedings
- Plan and execute the event based on the budget and financial planning and monitoring
- Negotiate with appropriate vendors, prior to the event
- Develop ongoing marketing strategies to support each event

**Perform administrative duties in support of the organization’s events**
- Participate in planning meetings as relevant to the events
- Provide event summary reporting and evaluation
- Engage in professional development to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge
- Participate in team building activities of the organization
- Complete and follow an annual work plan that aligns with the organization’s Strategic Plan
- Complete all organizational requirements (i.e. Timesheets, leave requests, mandatory training, etc.)

**Other Duties**
- Participate in committees (internal/external) as required
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position

**Requirements**:
**Mandatory**
- A degree in catering, event management or in any other hospitality-related field
- Two or more years of relevant work experience in coordinating various events and planning
- Valid drivers’ license, and own vehicle
- Clear current drivers’ abstract required
- Current criminal records check required

**Preferred**
- Previous experience working in First Nations communities
- Experience working with Anishinaabek people and/or within an Anishinaabek organization

**Knowledge**
- Knowledge of First Nation communities of Manitoulin Island
- Understanding and sensitivity for the Anishinaabe culture

**Skills**
- Ability to work within a budget
- Skilled in interpersonal relations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

**Abilities**
- Strong ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions
- Strong ability to organize and schedule
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
- Ability to speak and understand Anishnaabemowin; an asset

**Work Conditions**

**-**Frequent sitting
- Frequent periods of typing while sitting at a computer
- Frequent lifting and bending
- Frequent interruptions within office setting
- Travel is required
