Reporting to the Director, Facilities Operation, the Energy Manager supports corporate goals and objectives as outlined in THP’s Energy Conservation & Demand Management (ECDM) Plan, regarding energy conservation and reduction through the effective administration of energy programs and services, primarily involving the Corporate assets for which the Facilities is responsible, but which may include agencies, boards and commissions.

Work within, but not limited to, the healthcare codes, policies, procedures and Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) guidelines.

Administers, plans, and coordinates Corporate Energy Management programs, on behalf of various Divisions, Service Areas, Boards and Commissions. Responsible for recommending energy strategies, conducting energy risk assessments, training and communication, developing reports, and assessing demand management.

**Position Summary**:

- Lead the implementation of the ECDM Plan on corporate energy metrics, and other key performance indicators in consultation with Facilities to improve energy and sustainability performance across THP’s portfolio.
- Manages, develops and coaches assigned personnel in Energy conservation and sustainability.
- Recommends for approval by Energy Manager, Facilities Planning, Energy & Assets, energy management policies and procedures on behalf of the Corporation and in compliance with Provincial legislation, regulations and policies; develops and implements as required.
- Assists with the development and implementation of the Corporate Energy Management Program. Monitors and analyzes all energy conservation methods, and acts as leader for our Environmental initiatives and requirements (Audits, NPRI, ChemTrac, Energy Reporting, Ontario Hospital Green Score Card, etc.), assesses impact, makes recommendations, and helps implement change where feasible.
- Develops and administers the implementation, tracking and monitoring of the Corporate Energy Management Program in consultation with Facilities.
- Manages the Corporate Demand Management (ICI) program to ensure demand targets are met.
- Provides information and data required to negotiate for the procurement of energy (utilities) including electricity, natural gas, steam and water.
- Maintains ongoing and effective communications and relationships with and provides energy management advice to related authorities, Boards, Service Areas, and departments.
- Manages individual energy retrofit projects in liaison with staff, consultants and contractors during design and implementation phases of Energy Management projects/programs and ensures energy reduction measures are included in all asset management projects.
- Coordinates and administers the corporate utility data collection, processing and analysis, while maintaining a database of energy and water tracking in order to monitor utilities for each site that captures current monthly consumption.
- Assists with internal projects that deal with related corporate conservation activities in the areas of waste, recycling, water, and Earth Day / Earth Hour practices.
- Provides annual update reports indicating Corporate Energy Management Program status to the Lead Manager.
- Assists with the preparation of corporate annual reporting for the following; Ontario Regulation 507/18: Broader Public Sector, National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI), ChemTrac (City of Toronto), and Green Hospital Scorecard, by providing information relating to the use of utilities and the impact on the environment.
