**Summer Rock Climbing Camp Instructors**

**DESCRIPTION**:
Camp leaders have the role of engaging, inspiring, and coaching young climbers. Our mission through all our programs, including summer camps, is to build and encourage a solid foundation of life skills through climbing. We challenge participants to push further, and we provide a path through failure towards growth. We want to help make good humans that are part of the climbing community.

**DETAILS**:
Our summer camps run from 9:00am-3:00pm, Tuesday to Friday throughout July and August. We prefer instructors to take on the full week from start to finish as they will develop connections with the participants. However, we can offer week-to-week flexibility in scheduling if you like to take time off to enjoy your summer in Squamish

**Dates**:

- July 2-5
- July 9-12
- July 16-19
- July 23-26
- July 29-Aug 2
- Aug 6-9
- Aug 13-16

**DUTIES** (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

- Help create a positive, welcoming community atmosphere
- Maintain supervision for children from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave
- Demonstrate knowledge of the gym and its programs
- Conduct orientations to the facility
- Teach technical skills that you have been trained to deliver
- Help facilitate games and other activities
- Help manage the risks associated with indoor and outdoor rock climbing
- Help manage the risks associated with cycling from the facility to Smoke Bluffs Park

**PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES**:

- Possesses a love for all things climbing
- Models a Growth Mindset approach in your own conduct and in your leadership
- Is patient, curious, and attentive
- Has excellent group and risk-management skills for both indoor and outdoor top rope climbing and related activities
- Has valid first-aid training and certification (Standard First Aid or better)
- Is able to provide a clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector
- Is able to competently lead a group of youth while cycling along quiet roads, across busy streets, and along packed gravel pathways. Having your own bicycle is an asset
- ACMG climbing gym instructor (CGI) and/or top rope climbing instructor (TRCI) certification or equivalent is highly preferred

**COMPENSATION AND PERKS**:

- Compensation will be based on experience and certification ($18-$23)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $18.00-$23.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- After-School & Camp Counsellors: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- First Aid Certification (required)
- criminal record check (required)
- Climbing Gym Instructor certification (preferred)
