**VOS Spring Program**
Our Spring break programming combines multiple days Skiing with fishing, outdoor survival and overnight camping activities to create an engaging and memorable experience.

**Overview**:
Program Instructors report to the Program Manager and will be responsible for leading and co-leading Vancouver Outdoor Society’s Spring Program groups. Instructors will be expected to deliver, frame and re-frame program activities, group processes and objectives with a high level of enthusiasm and efficacy.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Working directly with students, parents, and supervisors to facilitate Spring Programming
- Implement the VOS risk management plans, policies and procedures
- Lead Ski days at local resorts
- Lead students in overnight camping, survival and fishing activities
- Communicate program requirements as they arise with the Project Manager
- Prepare necessary equipment, food rations and logistics for programs and events
- Provide feedback and evaluations to supervisors and program developers and post-trip reports
- Provide ongoing participant evaluations and check-ins during and post program

**Qualifications**:

- Wilderness First Aid Certificate (AWFA 40+ hour, or WFR 80 hour preferred)
- National Life Saver (NLS) Certificate or equivalent
- CSIA/CASI Level 1 & 2 Instructor (or equivalent experience)
- Class 4 Unrestricted Drivers License (preferred)
- Certifications or experience in leading/instructing outdoor adventure sports, such as rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, paddle boarding, orienteering, etc.
- Provide a clean Vulnerable Sector Criminal record check prior to employment

**Skills and Aptitudes**:

- Experience and passion for working with youth in experiential education programs
- Demonstrates a high level of responsibility
- Safety Oriented
- Punctual
- Enthusiastic and positive outlook

**Bonus points if you**:

- Speak Mandarin/Cantonese or have experience working with Chinese culture
- Have experience working with companies such as NOLS, COLT, Outward Bound, or Where There Be Dragons

**Hours**:
Spring Programming will have 14 days of students on campus and duties will include delivery of program material in the days and rotating evening activities/supervision/on call duties on campus with 1 night out camping. In addition to days of programing there are a single pre day and post day for each session. Each session for staff is sixteen days long.
