**About Us**:
The Western Research Scholars Academy is a new mentorship network for Western researchers co-designed with researchers to provide support through connection and mentorship with international academic leaders, professional development and research resources. The Academy prioritizes participation of equity-deserving researchers who are under-represented among mentorship opportunities and experience numerous challenges in achieving research success.

**Responsibilities**:
The Summer Student 1 will provide entry level support to ongoing services in the areas of administrative services, research services, infrastructure services, or student services. The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to faculty or staff, and for effectively carrying out a variety of tasks in accordance with policies, procedures, and instructions received from their supervisor. The incumbent will take guidance from their supervisor, and work productively and courteously with their work team and other members of the Western community.
- The student will work with mentors and the Academy team to learn about the program, develop the evaluation methods which will include both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The student will work with the mentors to develop and conduct the evaluation, analyze results and prepare materials to share key findings and recommendations with institutional stakeholders. The student will be offered the opportunity to present key findings alongside the mentors.**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Must be a student returning to studies in the fall

**Experience**:
- 1 year part time employment or volunteer experience

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Written and verbal communication skills to express ideas clearly, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
- Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
- Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule
- Ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail
- Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western¿s policies and procedures
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn and use new software programs as required
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements as applicable
