As a provincial implementation support team, SMH-ON provides leadership, resources, implementation coaching and a community of practice in order to promote the uptake, scaling, and sustainability of evidence-based, implementation-sensitive, identity-affirming practices in school mental health. SMH-ON serves the 72 English and French school boards in Ontario, remote school authorities, and provincial demonstration schools. The team works alongside the Ministry of Education and has a role within the wider system of care, linking with partner ministries and organizations to advance child and youth mental health.

We are currently hiring for a contract position for the February 2023 - August 2023 period (with extension contingent on funding) in the role of **Educator Mental Health Promotion and Literacy Consultant.** This position focuses on supporting educators across Ontario with knowledge, tools, resources and learning opportunities related to their role in promoting student mental health and well-being at school (e.g., social-emotional skill development, wellness promotion, student mental health learning, stigma reduction, etc.). The incumbent will work within the Mental Health Promotion Team and will align with mental health literacy and programming supports for other education stakeholders like school and system leaders.

Assist in the review and update of the Everyday Mental Health suite of resources to enhance culturally relevant and identity affirming practices and strategies for Ontario students.

In collaboration with other SMH-ON team members, collaborate with provincial stakeholder groups (e.g., teacher federations, school mental health professional groups, cultural/faith organizations) to support the development and delivery of professional learning offerings for Ontario educators.

Support the planning and development of the spring provincial leadership meeting for Ontario board mental health leadership teams, with a targeted focus on mental health promotion.

Assist in the development of web content, social media and blog posts, and other relevant educator focused communications alongside the SMH-ON communications team.

Provide consultation and support for projects led by the student and family/caregiver engagement team.

Link across audience-specific training and learning initiatives to ensure a cohesive approach and format for this work, alongside other members of the Mental Health Promotion Team at SMH-ON.

Attend SMH-ON team meetings and work closely with other members to ensure consistent delivery of services across regions.

**Qualifications**:
Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT). Experience working as an educator within the publicly funded Ontario school system. Experience with resource development, curriculum-writing, creation of web content, course development, etc. Evidence of a system perspective, and an appreciation for the importance of contextualizing information for the community and students served.

Excellent communication (oral and written), facilitation, and presentation skills. Confidence with public speaking and demonstrated proficiency in delivering professional learning (both in person and virtually), training, and coaching sessions for educators. Fluency in verbal/written French language is a strong asset.

Strong attention to equity and ensuring that the needs of students who are racialized and marginalized are well-considered in classroom mental health programming and initiatives. Experience with culturally responsive and relevant classroom approaches to social emotional skill development, student mental health literacy, and mental wellness promotion.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite of tools including Teams, Notebook, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc. Working knowledge of on-line course development, and specifically the use of Brightspace / D2L, is an asset.
