SFU International is the university’s hub for international relationships, knowledge and resources to enhance and mobilize the global reach of SFU’s teaching, research and community engagement. In service to SFU’s international engagement, we are a strong and collaborative team of about a dozen professionals committed to:

- facilitate international strategic direction and engagement in support of institutional priorities;
- build, maintain and continually improve institutional partnerships, opportunities, and modalities; and
- provide service, support, tools and skill enhancement for faculties and units.

**The Project Manager Strategic Initiatives**

The Project Manager Strategic Initiatives oversees the development and implementation of complex major projects undertaken at SFU in support of the development, integration and promotion of strategic global initiatives. Reporting to the Executive Director, SFU International, the PM works directly with proponents (faculty, Directors,, Deans, staff, etc.) to develop project and funding plans, and ensures the successful implementation of these plans. The PM assists project leaders in the administration of grants and contracts and assesses variances from the project plans, budgets and schedules. The PM prepares budget submissions; develops performance measurement indicators; recommends the allocation of funds; and administers expenditures. The PM works closely with internal and external partners and stakeholders to provide seamless service to project leaders.

Priorities for the coming year will include the development of a global engagement plan, including a workplan for the unit, the streamlining of project management systems and processes to enhance the units initiatives, advancing key strategic global partnerships.,

**Qualifications**

Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Business, or a related discipline, and three years of related experience in areas such as planning and completing large and/or complex projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies.
- Excellent knowledge of financial management and project management skills.
- Good knowledge of change management and process documentation.
- Sound understanding and experience working on international partnerships, social impact, international sustainable development and/or program development and management.
- Experience in the Canadian university system, international education, and diplomatic protocol.
- Understanding of current influences on global engagement in higher education and research and innovation ecosystems.
- Experience working on decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver on strategic plans.
