**POSITION OVERVIEW**

This opportunity is to join the internal American Express team in the role of Social Media Coordinator supporting the Public Affairs & Communications team focusing on external communications through our consumer social media channels. You are responsible for collaborating with several internal and external stakeholders to manage daily monitoring and engagement of the brand's social media channels to ensure consistent communication for our audience.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
- Exhibit a solid understanding of business goals and how it relates to your role including general business strategy, industry issues and key stakeholders
- Contribute to strategic social media campaigns and how they can be extended on our organic channels in a meaningful and engaging way
- Embody our brand voice on social - act as the bridge between American Express and the community to effectively establish and grow a loyal audience; manage, monitor, respond to and escalate social communications to manage brand reputation
- Contribute to strategies around customer service-related issues to enhance brand community experience
- Help to execute paid media campaigns - assist with copywriting, content development and reporting
- Maintain owned social media calendars for B2B and B2C channels and liaise with internal and external stakeholders on ideation for content development and oversee internal approvals
- Be data driven by maintaining bi-weekly owned results communication to senior leaders as well as monthly owned social reports-use insights to make informed decisions on the type of content posted on our channels
- Assist with storyboard creation and live content capture for key events to be used on owned social channels
- Use strong insights and detailed consumer research to inform content creation and brand strategy
- Demonstrate abilities as a creative thinker and encourage others to think outside the box
- Ongoing tracking and knowledge of industry & brand best practices for PR, influencer relations and social media
- Manage document collection and filing of content for audit and storage purposes

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-graduate diploma in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or related discipline
- Ideally 1-2 years of experience in public relations with consumer, lifestyle and/or financial brands
- Experience in social media, media relations and influencer relations
- Excellent communication skills, dynamic team player, excellent time management and organizational skills
- Experience with social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok and Pinterest
- Experience with capturing photos and videos and editing on apps such as Lighthouse or Afterlight
- Experience with social media management platforms, such as Sprinklr, Hootsuite or Sprout Social
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Superior time management and organizational abilities
- Strong interpersonal abilities to effectively manage all internal and external relationships
- Ability to be flexible in a changing work environment and work well under pressure
- Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva editing skills considered an asset
