We are looking for a System Administrator to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware and networks.

System administrators, or SysAdmins, are responsible for setting up and maintaining computer systems.

A **system administrator**, or **sysadmin**, or **admin** is a person who is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, especially multi-usercomputers, such as servers. The system administrator seeks to ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and securityof the computers they manage meet the needs of the users, without exceeding a set budgetwhen doing so.

**Responsibilities**
- Manage configuration and installation of hardware and software.
- Provide technical support for any hardware or software complaints users may have.
- Respond to any issues and troubleshoot outages.
- Regularly create and verify data backups.
- Ensure security features like firewalls, malware protection software, etc are installed.
- Monitor system performance and keep track of findings.
- Train the staff on IT and system procedures.
- Create a manual with technical documentation of IT processes which can be used by any of the staff.
- Set up employee accounts and IT requirements.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related fields.
- Professional certification or completed training programs are an added bonus.
- Prior experience as a systems administrator, or in the IT department.
- Prior experience with networks, databases and patch management.
- Strong knowledge of security issues and ways to prevent them.
- Knowledge of the best practices, softwares and processes in the industry.
- Excellent problem solving aptitude and analytical skill.
- Strong communication skills.

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 5 months

**Salary**: $32.35-$59.69 per hour

Schedule:

- 12 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Winnipeg, MB R2X 1M5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- system administration: 1 year (preferred)
