The Purchaser/Planner responsibilities include researching new suppliers, ensuring that all purchased products and materials meet Westpoint Natural’s specifications, negotiate with vendors as needed. This critical position will also coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules. **MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. Researching and identifying prospective suppliers 2. Liaising with internal project teams and maintaining strong supplier relations 3. Evaluating products and suppliers according to key business criteria 4. Prepare proposals, request quotes and negotiate purchase terms and conditions 5. Prepare and issue purchase orders and agreements 6. Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns 7. Work with QA to Inspect and evaluate the quality of purchased items and resolve shortcomings 8. Analyse industry and demand trends and support senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies 9. Create and maintain production, work, and shipment schedules and prioritize job orders for production optimization. 10. Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation. 11. Complete status reports and data analysis to review and evaluate production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory and finished goods demand. 12. Interact with shop floor management on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies or to provide additional information as requested from Manufacturing, QA, Customer Service and Accounting. 13. Develop and achieve departmental/company goals and controls. Make suggestions for improvement in areas of cost reduction, processes, quality and productivity. 14. Confer with department leads to determine progress of work and completion dates; inventory levels and solving production problems. 15. Other duties as assigned.

**GOALS AND OBJECTIVES**

Find secondary suppliers of Raw Materials to ensure Westpoint has a continuous supply of quality inputs. Work with the Supply Chain Manager to set up BOM templates within the ERP system. Develop and own a production schedule to meet inventory requirements to serve our customers on time. Work with QA and our vendors to resolve any supply quality issues Help prepare warehouse for a year end count each year.

**IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education and Experience**
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management or a similar field is preferred
- Proven work experience as a Procurement and Planning Specialist or similar role

**Knowledge, Abilities and skills**
- Must be willing to work as a member of a team and be flexible in undertaking a variety of duties that will contribute to the success of the organization.
- Good working knowledge of purchasing and planning strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to details.
