Canadian Parents for French is a nationwide, research-informed, volunteer organization that represents 23,000 members across Canada.

At Canadian Parents for French, we believe the ability to communicate in more than one language fosters creative, empathetic and adaptive people who access far-reaching opportunities and enhance the social and economic prosperity of our country. Canada has an enviable capacity to ensure that upcoming generations develop this ability in both official languages. We work to ensure that all learners have the opportunity, support and motivation to learn and use French.

**The role**:
Reporting to the BC & Yukon Executive Director, the Communications & Events Coordinator will develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s communications profile, including communications materials (monthly updates for Chapters, monthly all-member communiqués, briefing and position documents, fact sheets, etc.), social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), and serve as CPF BC & Yukon’s webmaster. As well, the Communications & Events Coordinator will help conceptualize and organize events and conferences, including the BC & Yukon Concours d’art oratoire, the annual AGM & Conference, parent info sessions, virtual events, etc.).

The vast majority of communication is in English. Knowledge of French is an asset, but not a requirement.

This is a full-time temporary position up to March 31, 2024.

**Roles & Responsibilities**

**Manage Social Media Accounts (20%)**
- Post content 3-4 times per week to social media.
- Monitor comments and provide responses where appropriate.
- Roughly half of the content shared should come from CPF BC & Yukon, the other half will be shared from partner organization websites and social media accounts i.e. the Office of the Commissioner on Official Languages, SFU Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs, local Canadian Parents for French Chapters, etc.

**Update & Develop Website Content (20%)**
- Our Canadian Parents for French BC & YK website has extensive information for parents, volunteers, and educators. This information should be regularly updated and/or re-organized.
- From time to time, new website pages or website content will need to be developed. This will require finding the appropriate information, laying it out, and posting it to our WordPress website. Graphic design may be required to help make the information clear and visually appealing.
- Priorities for updating the website and content development will be determined with the Outreach Officer.

**Prepare communications materials (20%)**
- Every month an e-bulletin is developed and sent to all CPF Chapter volunteers. Content will be sourced from partner organizations and CPF Board & Staff.

- As needed, materials that outline CPF BC & Yukon’s position on issues, fact sheets, briefing documents, etc. will be developed in support of CPF BC & Yukon activities, events, and advocacy work.

**Planning and organizing CPF BC & Yukon events (40%)**
- Plan and execute events.
- Deliver all event elements to quality standard within a set timeframe.
- Organize all aspects of the event programs such as speakers, entertainment, platform, special guests, equipment, promotional materials, etc.
- Recruit, train and manage volunteers as needed, providing a fulfilling volunteer experience.
- Receive registrations and develop event schedules.
- Liaise with key partner organizations, and form or continue beneficial partnerships including advertising and sponsorship agreements
- Conduct post-event surveys.

**Deliverables**
- Research, prepare, and send monthly Chapter Updates and monthly All Member communiques.
- Research, develop, and post content to the Branch website.
- Update sections on the Branch website.
- Research and post content to the Branch social media accounts.
- Copy edit materials.
- Help prepare and disseminate materials and communication tools for the annual Membership Drive, AGM & Conference, Concours d’art oratoire, and other special Branch initiatives as may be requested.
