Why is this role important?
- The Project Manager plans and manages the delivery of assigned project(s) in support of CIHI’s business objectives, including developing a project plan and translating it into detailed implementation plans and activities. The Project Manager may also collaborate on other PMO-led initiatives to strengthen overall project management capacity and competencies across the organization.
- The Project Manager plays a leadership role driving multi-disciplinary teams comprised of business areas, technical and corporate support resources, both functionally and virtually, through a matrix organization model, all aligning to the plan.
- What you'll do
- 1. Works with Project Sponsor, Business Owner, and project team to establish and deliver project management plans. Leads activities in the project lifecycle such as:

- Plans and manages the work required to meet objectives and the associated budget, schedule and resourcing.
- Monitors status, risks, issues, and action items.
- Liaises with functional authorities to secure the provision of required technical, business area and corporate support resources for the assigned project.
- Closes the project, with outcome evaluation, lessons learned reviews, operation transition.

2. Advises on best approach to project estimation, project schedule setup, stakeholder engagement and project governance. Promotes project management best practices, articulating the value of PMO standards, tools and templates and connecting to the needs of the business.
- 3. Actively and effectively applies CIHI’s project management standards including project management methods, tools, and templates to develop, monitor and track operational plans, budgets, and work plans.
- 4. In compliance with CIHI’s corporate reporting requirements, provides documentation regarding project progress and change requirements at the specified monthly/quarterly frequency. Reports on project progress and project deliverables versus plan and expectations and produces project artefacts to provide information on overall project health. Ensures acceptance of project deliverables.
- 5. Liaises internally with the CIHI Management Team across the organization as required. Establishes and maintains relevant professional contacts on behalf of CIHI with external stakeholders in support of identified programs/projects.
- 6. Plays a lead role in evolving project management discipline within the organization, as well as being a project management ambassador. This may include the development and delivery of project management training to other departments.
- 7. Supports the enhancements of portfolio management practices in the organization, in the areas of portfolio definition, value optimization, monitoring, value delivery.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Graduate degree in a relevant discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Project Management Certification/PMP is required.
- Extensive project management experience with a minimum of 5years managing medium to large scale Projects/Programs. Experience with projects having a significant Information Technology focus, content and deliverables is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the development and maintenance of project management artefacts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a matrix management structure.
- Ability to lead and mentor others.
- Proven ability to achieve results on time and within budget.
