Job Summary
Reporting to the Principal Investigator/Co-investigator, the incumbent will perform a wide array of duties in support of research projects affiliated with the Eastern Ontario Network (EON) at the Centre for Studies in Primary Care. The incumbent will primarily participate in the coordination of clinical research studies, which will include initiating participant screening, recruitment and enrolment, tracking participants, assisting in scheduling of participants, participant correspondence, data collection, data entry, and confidential maintenance of records. The incumbent will also be required to support the EON team which may include, but are not limited to, completing literature reviews, assisting with research ethics board submissions, and carrying-out basic administrative functions.
**Job Description**:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Plans, implements, and maintains local data collection in support of research protocols.
- Assess and recruit study participants. This includes coordinating with primary care practices, proactive recruitment via electronic medical records, being responsible for responding to incoming calls from potential research participants, mail-outs, organizing and conducting recruitment meetings, preparing recruitment documentation, and scheduling.
- Follow up with participants for the duration of the research study, including all associated correspondence.
- Conduct patient follow-up as required including, but not limited to, in person interviews/assessments and telephone communication.
- Acts as the primary administrative point of contact for internal research staff, study team members, patient partners, or other stakeholders while only escalating complex situations accordingly.
- Monitors the progress of research recruitment activities; develops and maintains records of research recruitment activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies.
- Participate in regular study team meetings as required.
- Organize, maintain, and store research data and files using confidential and secure methods.
- Undertake additional duties or special projects as required in support of the department.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Undergraduate Degree in a Health Science field required combined with several years of related research administrative experience.
- Experience in a research environment is required with experience in clinical research being an asset.
- Experience recruiting participants for research would be considered an asset.
- Experience with REDCap and knowledge of electronic medical records (i.e. OSCAR, PSS) would be considered an asset.
- Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and deal with multiple demands.
- Ability to work collaboratively with professionals in a team-oriented environment.
- Respects diversity and promotes inclusion in the workplace.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Power Point). Ability to learn new software packages as required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals, researchers, and external stakeholders.
- Organizational and time-management skills. Ability to focus even under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently.
- Strong computer skills, with the ability to learn new software programs.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Knowledge of university structure, procedures, and administrative systems.

**DECISION MAKING**:

- Determine patient eligibility for research studies.
- Determine how to best obtain consent from a patient or surrogate.
- Respond to general enquires, providing reasonable answers, or a means to find an answer if necessary. Redirects problems to the EON Research Associate or Principal Investigator.
- Determine coordination required in preparing grant and contract proposals.
- Determine timelines to ensure critical deadline for submissions are met.
- Determine when it is necessary to seek advice or direction from a supervisor with respect to study procedures.
- Coordinate with project leadership and team members to meet project milestones.
- Determine what information to distribute to project partners and governing bodies.
- Make recommendations
