**Overview**:
The Manager, Facilities and Equipment is responsible for the maintenance, repair and management of all buildings, properties, vehicles, and non-railway equipment for Southern Railway of British Columbia Limited (“SRY”). The Manager, Facilities and Equipment will plan, organize, direct and control the facilities management functions, including but not limited to general construction/renovations, alterations, maintenance and inspection activities. The position is also responsible for developing and maintaining preventative measures at our facilities related to fire prevention/protection, environmental impacts and natural disasters.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure the preservation and good working conditions of all SRY buildings and properties;
- Ensure all facilities are safe and well-functioning;
- Coordinate and oversee regular inspections and on-going maintenance;
- Select and oversee contract repair work and maintains accurate and detailed records of inspections and maintenance;
- Prepare and monitor the annual facilities operating and capital expenditure budgets;
- Procure, schedule, and oversee the maintenance and operations of building systems including Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Security, and others;
- Plan, procure, and oversee the maintenance of Company-wide vehicle fleet;
- Perform and/or manage monthly or periodic inspections of building systems, i.e., HVAC, electrical distribution, Fire Alarm, and other building systems. Prepares reports of recommended corrective action;
- Procure, manage, and monitor the performance of third-party service contractors including Landscaping, Janitorial and other service providers;
- Ensure compliance with facility permits and environmental regulations for wastewater and solid waste management;
- Coordinate site visits with film industry and internal stakeholders;
- Establish and maintain relationships within all departments with communication and understanding of needs and expectations;
- Negotiate prices with external contractors, selects and oversees work carried out by contractors to ensure equipment is repaired in a timely and cost-effective manner;
- Review the consumption of utilities and strives to minimize costs;
- Control activities, such as waste disposal, recycling programs, etc.;
- Plans and coordinate office moves with business unit representatives; and
- Perform other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- High School diploma required;
- Bachelor of Science or Technical degree in Construction Operations, Property Management and/or a trade certification would be an asset OR an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered;
- A minimum of 5 years in a Facilities Management role;
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management or supervisory role; and
- A well-rounded background in construction and/or property management.
