**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager, the Trauma Coordinator facilitates clinical activities and ensuring quality principles are applied to the care of the trauma patient. Acts as the communication liaison between members of the multi-disciplinary team, as well as other health care professionals and administrative personnel outside the service. Takes a long-range view of operations and patient service delivery and follows through on issues that impact on the overall quality of patient care provided. Develops policies and procedures/standards for operationalizing patient care at the service level. Provides leadership within the service for quality and risk management activities. Engages in program development when appropriate and as directed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Graduation from a recognized nursing program or evidence of an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Completion of a recognized advanced program in Emergency, Critical Care or Pediatrics Critical Care specialty. Three to five years' recent related experience, including two years' relevant clinical trauma experience. TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) Certification. Travel is a requirement of the position. Travel arrangements must meet the requirements of the program.

- Computer skills, including the ability to use MS Office and other related computer technology.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
