**Recruitment range: $75,572- $83,331** starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

- Job SummaryLE,NONET is a holistic suite of programs and services (academic, financial, cultural and social) designed to support Indigenous student success. Building on this approach, the LE,NONET First Year Coordinator (Coordinator) provides academic preparation and student support by serving as the primary point of contact in IACE and the First Peoples House for first-year undergraduate Indigenous students from faculties and programs across the university. Reflecting these responsibilities, the Coordinator reports formally to the Associate Director Academic regarding LE,NONET program responsibilities and reports indirectly to the IACE Associate Director and the OSL Manager, Student Support regarding student support responsibilities.

The Coordinator develops, delivers and oversees LE,NONET academic and cocurricular programming for Indigenous undergraduate students from the point of admission to the second year transition. These responsibilities include:

- teaching an introduction to university success seminar, including topics such as introductions to the library and academic research, academic integrity, reading and note-taking strategies, etc.;
- creating and delivering workshops and events for Indigenous first year students, including topics such as academic skills, key campus resources and supports, health and wellness, etc.;
- creating and delivering culturally-relevant community-building events for Indigenous first year students;
- developing and delivering programs and workshops to support Indigenous students transitioning to second year.

The Coordinator also participates in student education, prevention, intervention and support efforts across campus and community systems for Indigenous first year students in general and specifically those at risk and facing crises. The Coordinator plays a key role in the response to complex/high-risk issues experienced by Indigenous first year students including:

- serving as a university central point of contact for liaising with Indigenous first year students/families in complex student matters;
- gathering information on complex and multi-dimensional matters in order to help identify support/resource options for Indigenous first year students;
- providing ongoing support and guidance for Indigenous first year students impacted by behaviours and actions that contravene important university policies including: Non-Academic Misconduct, Harassment and Discrimination, and Sexualized Violence; and
- coordinating care, implementing referrals and following-up on student issues requiring case management support.

All of these responsibilities involve extensive collaboration with other units across the university.

The Coordinator enhances student retention and success by:
(a) designing and delivering dedicated academic preparation and success programs and supports;
(b) designing and delivering academic preparation and community-building workshops and events;
(c) providing access to and connections with key campus academic resources, services and supports;
(d) providing dedicated advice to Indigenous first year students who are experiencing a variety of significant emotional, social, behavioural and non-academic concerns;
(e) helping such students identify and understand their options to make informed decisions;
(f) providing critical non-academic case management support and coordination for students with complex needs;
(g) providing expertise, consultation and advice in the management of complex student matters which may include assisting students in significant distress or students experiencing trauma to understand their options;
(h) managing early intervention and response practices to ensure consistent trauma informed practice;
(i) implementing effective case management processes that align with various university policies, practices and strategic plans;
(j) integrating Indigenous knowledge and cultural teachings into Indigenous first year student programs
