Vintage Hotels is seeking a full time Pastry Chef

**What you’ll be doing**:
- Providing personalized and exceptional guest service at every given opportunity.
- Accountable to the Owner, guests, employees.
- Ensures that the pastry shop is running a smooth and efficient manner through the supervision, training and direction of the bakery staff.
- Hires, discharges and schedules staff as required.
- Assists the Executive Chef in the annual budgeting activated with respect to costing and maintaining budget guidelines as set out by the General Manager.
- Designs, presents and implements the dessert menu for the Restaurant.
- Participates and supervises all baking activities of the bakery.
- Orders all food inventories to meet the baked requirements of the hotel restaurants.
- Completes all necessary reports and order forms as required by the Executive Chef.
- Having a thorough knowledge of Lais Hotel Properties’ products and services.
- Suggesting additional products and services meeting our Guests’ specific preferences.
- All other duties as assigned.
**What you'll bring to the role**:
- Red Seal Certification.
- Completed apprenticeship requirements for Ontario.
- 7-10 years experience in a bakery in a progressive position.
- Current Safe Food Handler’s Certificate.
- Previous up-selling and/or sales experience is considered an asset.
- Artistic and/or creative flair for decorating and menu design.
- Excellent recall ability.
- Self motivated.
- Ability to prioritize time and work within tight deadlines.
- Excellent fine motor skills.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to change with dynamic environment.
- Confidence in selling and up-selling products and services.
- Positive sales oriented personality.
- Desire to meet goals.
- Ethical and honest.
- Physical demands of lifting up to 50 lbs. including bending, carrying items.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Working in extreme temperatures of very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter within the kitchen.
- Constant interruptions and noise of busy kitchen atmosphere.
- Stress associated with being responsible for a large four diamond restaurant cost and revenue centre.
- Long hours require steadfast effort to maintain composure and make sound decisions in a fast paced environment.
