**What’s the ask?**

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager would manage the day-to-day accounting which includes overseeing banking, accounts payable, and the month-end close process. This individual will be responsible for reviewing the team’s work and answering their questions, as well as the development of their team members through frequent performance feedback. This individual should be self-motivated and enjoy working collaboratively with others.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Review & approve outgoing payments (vendor payables & employee expenses) ensuring company policies are being followed
- Monitor accounts payable and cash flow
- Manage month-end close process to ensure all entries are posted and review reconciliations to ensure balance sheet accounts are well-supported and accurate
- Coordinate with audit firm and help our finance team provide the correct support to the auditors in a timely manner
- Support, develop, and lead the corporate finance team through coaching and providing opportunities for growth and more challenging work, including reviewing performance of direct reports and providing feedback on an ongoing basis
- Lead the expense side of the annual budget process which involves coordinating with the line of business leaders
- Support the line of business leaders and corporate finance team in new process improvements and efficiencies
- Monitor staff working in Broker Services finance team to ensure payments are posted in a timely manner and ensure month-end is closed and posted into main accounting system
- Prepare accurate RIBO filing each June and December on time
- Monitor licensing for both individual licenses and corporate licenses
- Manage ad-hoc projects

**What does it take?**
- Completed post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance
- Experience managing an accounting team
- Sound knowledge of Canadian generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Comfortable dealing with company personnel at various levels
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
