The Ramp Supervisor is responsible for the safe and secure operation of the transportation component of the Operations Network at identified airports to ensure that all mail types are despatched, retrieved, handled and conveyed according to their priority and in a secure and efficient manner. Supervises the air ramp operations, and authorizes and communicates alternate routings to the airlines, the National Control Centre and Area Performance Centres. Recommends changes to management for routings and modes of transport. Investigates and reports on irregularities in despatch, retrieval and handling of mail.

**Responsibilities**:
Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Supervisor, Ramp.

1. Supervises the airport ramp operations at identified airports and facilities; ensures all mail types are dispatched, retrieved, handled and conveyed according to their priority in a correct and efficient manner, as per contractual commitments.

2. Authorizes and communicates alternate routings to airlines, suppliers, National Control Centre, Area Performance Centres, and Regional / National Transportation in the event of irregular or emergency situations.

3. Seeks opportunities to reduce costs without jeopardizing service commitments and recommends changes to routings and modes of transportation.

4. Uses mail management systems to monitor arrivals and departures for irregularities, investigates to determine cause and recommends corrective action including possible alternate routings, modes of transport or other measures.

5. Authorizes the alteration, cancellation or creation of bills of weight to resolve discrepancies and adjust payment (air despatch and air transfer bills).

6. Develops working relationships with airport and airline representatives in order to address any failure to meet contracted commitments (information requirements, lack of space, staff, equipment, etc.).

7. Ensures airline / supplier employees are up to date on changes to CPC products, service commitments and priorities, shuttle schedules and documentation requirements.

8. Participates in the development and implementation of Operation plans for Holiday periods (Christmas, Easter, Summer) by ensuring additional transportation equipment is in place where necessary (airports / integrator facilities), by proposing additional services, routes, etc, where volume warrants, and by providing input into the development of alternative modes / schedules of transportation to accommodate increases/decreases in volumes.

9. Investigates and resolves disputes in the case of suppliers’ service failures and escalates if necessary.

10. Ensures mail is afforded proper security while on airport premises. Manages relationships with Ministry of Transport and other officials. Maintains valid ramp access pass; authorizes and issues temporary passes to visitors and ensures these are returned on time. Responds to audits from the Ministry of Transport and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- High School diploma or provincial equivalent (GED) (Equivalent Experience may be accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma)

**Experience**
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a supervisor in mail processing or collection and delivery/transportation- CPC reliability status security clearance
- Possess a valid permanent driver’s license (no graduated or temporary license)
- Have a satisfactory safe driving record per CPC’s Driver Safety Program, which includes:
a) Have not received more than 2 moving violations in last 3 year

b) Have not had more than three demerit points assigned in one single violation

c) Have not had license suspension or prohibition of any kind in last 3 years-
