**Research and Development Manager**

We are looking to hire a highly-qualified and experienced **Research and Development Manager** to manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of process research projects, according to clients’ specifications. Reporting to the Senior Manager, R & D, the Manager also has several reports of their own in the organizational structure—R & D Chemists, Research Leader, and Fellow, Senior, and Principal Chemists. NB: The expected start date for this position is April 10, 2023.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Contributing to the evaluation of new inquiries, e.g., R & D cost and resource estimates
- Developing process research project plans, in collaboration with other departments
- Collaborating with other R & D Managers in allocating project resources, e.g., lab space, equipment, and staff
- Leading staff management activities from recruitment through to performance appraisal management and staff development
- Monitoring project progress through tools such as regular status meetings, schedule reviews, and Gantt Charts
- Coordinating multi-functional project teams, and facilitating the resolution of outstanding issues
- Fulfilling a point-of-contact role for clients on scientific matters related to research projects
- Managing and reviewing final project reports
- Participating in project evaluations through report reviews, analyses, and coaching for higher performance
- Monitoring compliance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and R & D Manuals
- Ensuring safe and cleansed lab operations
- Acting as designate for other R & D Managers in their absence, or as required.

**Qualifications: Education, Skills & Experience**
- Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry, preferably in Synthetic Organic Chemistry
- Post-graduate industrial, or academic experience with synthetic organic chemistry
- Leadership and project management experience—preferably at a pharmaceutical or fine chemical company, is considered an asset
- Thorough understanding of analytical chemistry and related regulatory affairs is also an asset
- Proficiency with operational leadership, including exemplary resource management skills
- Advanced knowledge of synthetic organic and process chemistry
- Familiarity with production capabilities in pilot plant and kilo lab environments operating under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
- Adherence to Environmental Health and Safety regulations.

**Salary**: $100,000.00-$150,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
