**Position Description**

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a lead collaborator within Kenora Chiefs Advisory’s senior management team. The COO will sustain an innovative environment by leading the management team representing a diverse range of programs and services. Core aspects include championing organizational transformation, quality improvement, client and cultural safety, ongoing program development, as well as administrative oversight and leadership.

Location: 240 Veterans Drive, 3rd Floor, Kenora, Ontario

Reports to: Executive Director

**Summary of Duties**
- Work alongside the Executive Director providing analysis and recommendations for developing and implementing operational strategies and processes to support the culture and vision of the organization looking into the future;
- Using key committee and management meeting structures ensure collaboration, cooperation, effective communication and teamwork across services, promoting the interdisciplinary team-based care approach to client-based services;
- Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention;
- Support accreditation processes as identified through Accreditation Canada including assessment, action plan development, education and pre-site visit preparation within committee structures of the organization;
- Fiscal oversight and management across all departmental budgets, meeting program deliverables and targets;
- Guide risk assessment processes, management and resolution of organizational risk;
- Reinforce and support quality assurance of organizational policies and procedures;
- Building and maintaining relationships with First Nation communities, representatives and key contacts in order to ensure alignment, responsiveness and attention to community needs, and the validation of service excellence by community membership, and clients;
- Engage with organizational advisories (Elder, Youth, Patient Care) and analyze processes for engagement to ensure meaningful opportunity for input and direction;
- Liaising with government stakeholders in reporting and engaging on service delivery;
- Representing the organization at local, regional, and governmental planning tables, committees, networks as required;
- Attending board meetings as required;
- Open and negotiable to additional duties that arise.

**Qualifications**
- A university degree in the fields of Health Sciences, Social Work, and/or Business, or equivalent experience working in senior, executive organizational management, and/or equivalent years of clinical work experience;
- Experience working with First Nation communities;
- In-depth knowledge of non-profit administrative functions such as Finance, Human Resources, Communications;
- Ability to guide strategic planning and program development;
- Ability to articulate and represent the organizational vision;
- Good knowledge of quality improvement processes, data management and analysis;
- Effective organizational, analytical, managerial, communication, and leadership skills.
- Please note: this is an organization in which traditional Anishinaabe practices involve burning sacred medicines such as tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar regularly within the work setting.

**Position Requirements**:

- Current satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Check;
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle;
- Willing to travel when required;
- Understanding of the Ojibway language is an asset.
