**Program Description**

Indigenous 2SLGBTQQIA+ youth deserve services and spaces that are responsive to their needs and allow them to be their whole selves. KCA has received funding to hire a Diversity & Inclusion Lead who will work under the Health Promotion program to support staff, programs, and communities in making their services and communications more knowledgeable and inclusive. The Diversity & Inclusion Lead will work alongside all programs at KCA to increase safety for youth with diverse gender and sexuality identities. This will be done through supporting the roll-out and evaluation of training for staff at KCA and in the communities we work with, assessing the use of language in our materials and communications, and engaging with youth in Treaty #3 to learn more about the need to see from the services they use.

The Diversity & Inclusion lead will also support communities in the communications standards through the development of a communications toolkit to support the use of inclusive language to promote safety.

Position Title: Diversity & Inclusion Lead

Department: Health Promotion & Prevention

Term: Full-time, Temporary Contract until March 31, 2024 with possibility of extension

Reports to:  Health Promotion Manager

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Youth & Family Engagement**
- Hold events to engage with 2SLGBTQQIA+ youth and families about their experiences and needs
- Attending community events to discuss the program and collect feedback from attendees about the inclusivity of the services they access and what they would like to see
- Collect information from youth and families through a variety of mediums - surveys, sharing circles, surveys etc
- Work alongside youth councils e.g., Youth Hub Youth Advisory Council, KCA Youth Council, to ensure youth voice is heard and integrated into the work

**Community Engagement**
- Network, and develop partnerships with community resources both in KCA member First Nations, and local urban centers such as Kenora
- Be responsive to concerned members of the community and pass along feedback to the relevant program manager
- Ensure youth voice is embedded in the development of the communications tool kit
- Attending community resource meetings to learn about and discuss service offerings for 2sLGBTQQIA+ youth

**Monitoring and Reporting**
- Keep track of engagement sessions, meetings, and events attended for the purpose of reporting
- Collate and report back on data collected through engagement
- Track work done in assessing and suggesting changes in programs and communications materials

**Deliverables**
- Organization and roll-out of 2SLGBTQQIA+ inclusivity training to KCA and community staff
- Pre/Post measure of training efficacy
- Assessment and feedback on organizational material regarding inclusive use of language
- Assessment and feedback on organizational communications regarding inclusive use of language
- Report created from youth, family, and community feedback regarding gender and sexuality inclusiveness in services offered at KCA and more broadly in Treaty #3 Territory

**Qualifications**
- Lived experience with systems navigation for 2SLGBTQQIA+ community members
- Excellent rapport and ability to work with youth
- Excellent organizational skills
- Comfort with public speaking and presentations
- Experience with research; data collection, data analysis, report writing
- Experience facilitating activities and programs, including culturally based programming, is an asset
- Ability to demonstrate and work through a lens of sensitivity to diversity related to race, religion, culture, cognitive functioning, poverty, sexual orientation, and gender identity
- Willingness to engage in mental health, substance use and other necessary training to increase capacity and skills in the field of peer support
- Excellent skills in the following areas: interpersonal, computer, organization, networking, presentation, and communication (written & oral)
