**The opportunity**:
The **Mi’kmaw Home Energy Efficiency Project** (MHEEP) launched in 2018 and offers energy efficiency upgrades like insulation, heat pumps, and draft-proofing at no cost to the participant or community. These energy efficiency upgrades help reduce energy waste and improve a home’s comfort. We work with all 13 First Nations in Nova Scotia, and to date, more than 900 participants have benefitted from MHEEP, saving energy and money and reducing their environmental impact.

The** MHEEP Efficiency Specialist** will serve as a point person for contractor invoices, ensuring prompt and accurate payments while monitoring trends and looking for opportunities for process improvement. Additionally, they will review and approve proposed upgrades using their knowledge of building science. This multi-faceted position includes leading a variety of tasks using Microsoft Office products with a focus on Excel, Teams, and Outlook. A strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required for this position.
- Responsible for overseeing contractor invoice payments, including reviewing and approving invoices with supporting documentation.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving proposed upgrades such as heat pumps, insulation, and heat recovery ventilation units.
- Responsible for liaising with Delivery Agents in the context of invoices and upgrade approvals.
- Responsible for generating proposed upgrade summaries for each home that will be shared with community Housing Managers.
- Responsible for processing Delivery Agent invoices (reviewing costs and supporting documentation, asking clarifying questions as needed, transferring data to E1’s files, and coding invoices).
- Responsible for leading special projects as needed (e.g., data analytics, research on energy efficiency measures, process improvements, etc.).

**What to expect in your first several weeks on the job**:
**In the first week, expect to**:

- Meet with individual team members and become familiar with their roles and how they interact with yours.
- Read the MHEEP Guidelines, Program Manual, and other core documents.
- Start learning about MHEEP’s general processes and how the program operates.
- Be introduced to other functional areas of the business and how they interact with MHEEP.

**In the first month, expect to**:

- Become familiar with the program’s targets, goals, and overall objectives.
- Meet MHEEP Delivery Agent teams.
- Learn to navigate MHEEP’s files, folders, and tracking tools.
- Learn how to review contractor invoices and begin processing them for payment.
- Learn how to review certain components of monthly delivery agent invoices.
- Become familiar with the program's overall processes and how each step interacts with others.

**In the first three months, expect to**:

- Take on oversight of contractor invoices.
- Take on a larger role in Delivery Agent invoice reviews.
- Begin training on proposed upgrade reviews.
- Learn other MHEEP tasks, such as preparing quarterly reports for Housing Managers.
