Moose Jaw Co-op is hiring a permanent full-time Accounting Manager at our Administration Office located in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

**What you will do**:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager will lead and perform general accounting activities through the analysis and preparation of financial reports and statements. This includes the preparation of journal entries/ledgers, fixed asset and inventory accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, reconciliation, and/or financial statement consolidation. Provide guidance and oversight on all aspects of monthly and quarterly reporting including consolidation and allocations, analysis, and reporting. Ensure relevant and reliable financial information is available to company decision makers in a timely manner. Support the management of external financial reporting including analysis, liaising with external auditors, and preparing required analysis. Provide technical expertise and guidance to more junior staff, ensuring quality in technical accounting work.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Oversee and contribute to the preparation and analysis of actual periodic, quarterly, and year-end consolidated financial statements and other reports.
- Oversee and contribute to reconciling financial reporting discrepancies and ensures compliance with financial transaction recording standards.
- Review accuracy of financial statements ensuring they are in accordance with accounting standards.
- Oversee and perform various general accounting activities such as reconciliations, journal entries and coding of invoices.
- Assess and recommend financial controls to enhance related policies, procedures, and processes.
- Analyze the impact of new accounting standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory standards and new transactions.
- Support the planning, preparation, and documentation for the auditing process, including gathering documentation.
- Provide support and training to both Team Members and Team Leaders on accounting activities.

**Qualifications**:

- A CPA Designation
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in:
a. Leading an accounting team including recruiting, training, supporting professional development and performance management

b. Full cycle accounting experience, preferably in an a multi division retail organization

c. Year end audit file preparation, including liaising with external auditors

d. Assessing and implementing internal controls
- Experience with budgeting
- Experience with commodity taxes (GST, PST, LCT, Fuel Taxes)
- Experience within the petroleum, food, pharmacy and/or agriculture industry is an asset
- Strong professional judgement, leadership, analytical skills and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of ethical business practices and associated regulations
- Highly self-motivated, detail oriented and organized
- Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
