Inventory Control Manager

**PRINCIPAL FOCUS**:
At the enterprise level, this position is responsible for learning, gaining insights and managing the people and processes associated with the immediate and future position of our inventory through inventory movement and the flow of goods. This role develops all policies, procedures and processes to ensure that inventory is maintained and managed throughout the organization. The position is an on-premises position, located at our downtown Toronto offices.
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Internal Inventory Logistics
- Manages physical inventory recaps - understanding inventory shortages and overages and reporting on a timely basis (transfers, shipping and receiving errors etc ).
- Defines and executes Eastern and Western Distribution Hub plans
- Manages the transfer process. Works with stakeholders to establish efficient and effective transfers of goods when and where required. Monitors transfer trends and outliers and make recommendations for changing purchase quantities based on quantifiable information
- Reviews and implements best practices for receiving and shipping goods
- Leads cross functional department heads to maintain an action plan to reduce slow moving inventory
- Makes recommendations to the leadership teams about improvements in inventory life cycle
- Develops and implements internal logistics policies and procedures to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Ensures proper FIFO rotation of inventory
- Works with the Service and Repairs Manager to track changes to inventory for damages, vendor returns and working in conjunction with the accounting team (keeping track of cost for each of noted cases)
Inventory Control
- Manages the Cycle/Inventory Count program
- Reviews shortages and inventory adjustments daily (tracking/monitoring positive and negative adjustments - Taking corrective action to fix continuous/similar offences)
- Creates, reviews, deploys and develops the Inventory Control procedures (root cause and solution execution, based on inventory recaps + cycle counts)
- Maintains a high level of inventory accuracy, by ensuring system information is accurate with physical location (cycle count planning and org)
- Leads best practice improvement projects regarding processes that impact inventory traceability
- Creates SLA targets/Target $$ for various inventory bins, define optimal goals for those bins
- Improves Overall Efficiency of Inventory Investment and maintains strict limits on Inventory ROI
- Coordinates with Customer Service Representatives, Retail Supervisors, and Warehouse Supervisors to identify and rectify variances
Loss Prevention:
- Develops a Loss Prevention system and measurement
- Manages and coordinates daily cycle count variances and makes adjustments in system as necessary
- Identify, rectify and report variance trends by location, operator, carrier, vendor and other factors as identified
- Security assurance and protection of high value goods protocols
Reporting & Process Improvements
- Develop, manage, and execute process improvement projects to impact inventory management practices, processes, and metrics
- Develop, document, review and communicate inventory management policies and procedures; coordinate activities to improve performance, productivity and inventory accuracy
- Develops and monitors KPIs regarding accuracy and integrity of Inventory transactions, providing feedback to the Operations Manager on opportunities for improvement
- Creates/identifies measurable inventory control metrics for daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reporting
- Confirms and reports inventory variances and builds programs to minimize such variances
- Creates daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports/dashboards that identify changes in various inventory levels
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES**:
- 5+ years previous experience in an inventory control role
- 3+ years in a management/leadership role
- Education and professional designation/certification in Inventory and Supply Chain Management
- Expertise/experience of supply chain and logistics
- Organized and detail oriented
