**Reports To**: Health, Fitness & Recreation Manager

**Position Status**: Full-Time, 8-week Contract

**Compensation**: $18.00 per hour

**Start Date**: June 15, 2023

**Location**: John W. Lindsay YMCA

**The Opportunity**

Responsible for leadership and oversight of Group Fitness Programming, the Coordinator is an integral component in ensuring responsive, meaningful fitness, rehabilitation, and recreational programs that enhances member achievement of whole life fitness goals in a positive, inclusive, safe, and values-based environment. Through collaboration and leadership of Group Fitness Instructors, support achievement of Operational Goals through enhanced member experience, engagement, and retention. Is a Relationship Builder on an individual and community scale.

**Please note that this opportunity is a summer grant position available for those between the ages of 15 and 30.**

**Responsibilities**
- Accountable for delivery, and evaluation of comprehensive Group Fitness platforms that enhance and supports member engagement and retention. Oversight and maintenance of Group Program season schedules, distribution to communication platforms (i.e., Active Net), direct program delivery, and alignment with YMCA Serving All Members (SAM) standards
- Ensure YMCA facility, group sessions, and equipment are maintained in keeping with safety requirements. Follow Association, industry, and occupational health and safety requirements regarding safe work practices, safety reporting, routine inspections, and monitoring of YMCA program and fitness facilities
- Foster and maintain collaborative partnerships with external agencies, community groups, associations to enhance delivery of responsive, meaningful programming and profiling the Y as a strong community partner. Facilitate sessions on an in-house, outreach, and expo basis to raise awareness/educate on whole life wellness and achievement of fitness goals/program outcomes
- Develop recruitment, selection, Onboarding, professional development, of all staff and volunteers. Ensure modeling and championing of YMCA behavioral standards regarding professionalism, discretion, and respectful workplace requirements. Ensure all YMCA Child Safety, Protection, and Certification standards are enforced for both staff and volunteers
- Ensure effective program offering communications via social media platforms and Active Net, timely response to program questions/requests for information. Foster a collaborative, environment of open communication in addressing/responding to internal/external questions, best practice sharing, and resolution. Coordinating member driven fundraising events in partnership with campaign. Providing support to Association promotions, events, and overall program delivery
- Management of Program Administration to support effective, efficient program delivery, including payroll, maintenance group fitness schedule, procurement of supplies/equipment, maintenance of participant/staff information, oversight equipment maintenance timeframes, etc.
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Involved or enrolled in a university or College program, majoring in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Rec Management, or a related field
- YMCA certification and/or Can-Fit Pro registration in Personal training and Group Fitness an asset
- Passion for health/wellness and helping others with demonstrated compassion
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and ability to establish rapport with clients
- Proven background in group fitness program delivery and member retention is considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work irregular hours required
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
