Security Specialist

**The job duties for this position shall include the following**:
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, programs and contingency plans to minimize the security risks at the customer site.
- Assist in the management of requirements related to the security standard at the customer site, any annual risk assessments and identification of needed countermeasures at the customer site.
- Assist with conducting physical security surveys, HSSE audits, and Security Risk Assessments.
- Interpret & enforce all existing security related policies and procedures.
- Assist the customer with the development of appropriate security plans in preparation for events that have the potential to attract security threats to the site (i.e., Turnarounds, environmental protests),
- Assist with the development and any required updates to the site-specific security plans.
- Assist customer in managing and conducting investigations related to employee and contractor security incidents, participate in the effective solution of these matters and help identify areas of opportunity in the business controls of the customer in order to prevent reoccurrence.
- Work with customer to ensure compliance with all Federal and Provincial Laws.
- Maintain knowledge of security related trends and developments.
- Assist customer to build and maintain a working network of security professionals within the private and governmental sectors including local law enforcement agencies.
- Responsible for the handling and safeguarding of security sensitive information.,
- Assist with the management and assessment of the Security contract for the customer site.
- Assist the customer and the site security contractor to carry out Security awareness training related to all areas of security risks.
- Act as a Lead and Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security/risk topics for projects or turnarounds at the customer site.
- Provide security project/management services to business units/facilities including but not limited to (a) security architectural design/review, (b) specification, evaluation and selection of security technology, systems, and hardware, (c) evaluation of selection of security vendors with consult with customer site management for services provided, and (d) project budgeting.
- Work with the customer to manage Security technology and systems (Video Surveillance, Access System).
- Work with customer and other contractors to provide security related emergency response services and coordinate activities in the event of site wide emergency. This is expected to include on-call duties.
- Assist the customer in the development of Security cost savings initiatives and tactics.
- Performs additional tasks as required by the customer.

**Required Qualifications/Experience**:
- Minimum 5+ years’ previous Security and/or safety-related experience. Work experience in the Oil & Gas industry is a definite asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional security training or certifications are a plus.
- Must have intermediate MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and general computer skills.
**Additional Requirements**:
- Ability to produce a clean or satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.
- Ability to pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol testing and comprehensive background check.
**Interpersonal Communications**:
Must have good communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal) and have confidence and authority to tell someone that they may not perform work if conditions or procedures are not safe and enact a stop work authority. Contacts with immediate associates and immediate supervisor for instructions, training, and guidance. Frequent contact with customer and job site personnel so communication and interpersonal skills are critical to success.
**Physical Demands**
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, bend, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to occasionally and safely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus but is not confirmed by mandatory vision exams.
