**Job Description**:
***:Under the direction of the Supervisor Parks Operations South, directs and works with staff to maintain the City’s cemetery operation.

**MAJOR TASKS**:

- Directs, instructs, and works with full-time and seasonal staff and supervises completion of work.
- Participates in budget preparation and planning for the cemetery operation.
- Ensures that equipment is properly maintained and operated, and controls the purchasing of tools and supplies.
- Maintains records for all phases of the cemetery operation, including the computerized burial inventory.
- Ensures that shifts are adequately staffed in consultation with Supervisor.
- Investigates and responds to public complaints and requests for information and meets with the public and liaises with funeral directors, as required.
- Liaises with other City departments, agencies etc., as required.
- Compiles time sheets, work orders, compensation and incident reports.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Secondary school graduation together with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the daily operation of a cemetery
- Knowledge of the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act and its regulations

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Must be capable of issuing and accurately comprehending written/oral information and instructions
- Must possess the ability to supervise
- Must be at basic level in word processing and spreadsheet software, and must possess basic online data entry skills
- Must be able to communicate with the public in a tactful and courteous manner
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence, or equivalent
- Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
- May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified)
- Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
