**About Us**:
The Ministry of Culture works to improve Albertans’ quality of life through support of cultural development, historical preservation and increased gender equality. The Royal Alberta Museum collects, preserves, researches, interprets, and exhibits objects and specimens related to the heritage of Alberta’s people and natural environment. In collaboration with other branches within Heritage Division, the Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) Branch is responsible for designing and producing galleries, exhibits, and interpretive features for 18 of the division's museums (including RAM), historic sites and interpretive centres located throughout Alberta. The RAM Branch's Visitor Experience Unit is instrumental in leading this work.

**Role**:
As the Manager of Design, Production & Operations you will lead the team of creative and technical professionals that is responsible for designing, producing, installing and maintaining exhibits and galleries, and for designing and producing a variety of related promotional and educational materials. As a skilled people leader, with proven ability to influence and lead teams that include contributors with a variety of different skills, professional backgrounds and work-styles, you will be responsible for motivating the team and overseeing their work.

You will report to the Director of Visitor Experience, and will ensure that your team’s operational responsibilities are fulfilled, and that their project-related work is properly resourced and milestones are achieved.

Key responsibilities of this manager role include, but are not limited to:

- Developing, motivating and managing a collaborative and agile team responsible for designing, fabricating, installing and maintaining museum exhibitions and related interpretive experiences.
- Ensuring that exhibit development projects are completed on schedule, within budget and that meet project acceptance criteria.
- Implementing a new, cross-functional and team-driven model for exhibit development and project management.
- Ensuring that the Royal Alberta Museum’s galleries are operating in a safe and inviting manner, and support the provision of safe and inviting exhibit spaces at other sites and museums operated by the Heritage Division.
- Working with key stakeholders, both at RAM and from the other branches of the Heritage Division, to ensure high quality experiences in Alberta’s historic sites and museums through the creation of new exhibitions, gallery updates, and visitor-focussed experiences.

**Qualifications**:
A university degree in a relevant field (e.g. Design, Museum Studies, Liberal Arts, Interpretive Planning, History, Science), plus at least four (4) years of experience managing teams responsible for design and production of exhibits, or similar deliverables. Equivalencies of related experience or education may be considered on a one-for-one basis.

Required:

- Experience leading, coaching and motivating a team of creative professionals.
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives, manage change and achieve positive results.
- Ability to conceive, manage and deliver projects involving complex schedules and deliverables.
- Experience managing budgets, contracts, and human resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A class 5 driver’s license.

Assets:

- Management experience in the context of a museum or science centre.
- Experience working as an exhibit or graphic designer, fabricator, museum technician or in another profession related to designing and producing exhibits.

$3,100.79 to $4,172.77 bi-weekly ($80,930 - $108,909/year)
