The Quality and Regulatory (Q&R) Specialist I support’s the department's activities of regulatory affairs, compliance in-production for Classification, Flag State, and Onsite Customer Inspection Authority Quality scope, and assists with resolution of non-conformances (NCRs) and technical deviations to successful resolution in support of full ship acceptance for new-build ships.

**Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.**

**What you'll do**
- Supports the resolution of statutory quality, technical, and build non-conformances of equipment, production products or build process with Classification Society’s.
- Support the negotiations and resolution of regulatory issues with Transport Canada.
- Administer the issues and recommended solutions for the resolution of technical equipment, production and build quality process issues or non-conformances raised by Customer onsite inspection teams.
- Administers variations to contractual requirements with Customer onsite inspection team.
- Administer noted technical equipment build quality issues with suppliers.
- Prepares updates to quality processes that will reduce reoccurrences of non-conformances in production.
- Coordinates between Engineering and Quality Control for the resolution of equipment and production non-conformances.
- Administers the Inspection Test Plan’s (ITP) for each project and co-ordinates discussions/meetings with Production, Class and Customer and controls the issue and revisions status within ARAS.
- Supports in the delivering advice and directions to buyers in performance management of non-conforming suppliers.
- Tracks and records the investigation of major or critical quality problems in production.
- Supports the development of NDT Plans for each project as per Classification Society Requirements.
- Administers and tracks the planned QC, AC, Vendor, Class, and Customer inspection points from ITP to shop orders.
- Supports the team on the various software platforms ARAS, IFS, SharePoint etc.
- Other Functions not a direct link to JD or preforms additional functions / duties as assigned.

**What you'll bring**
- 0-3 years experience in shipyards or complex manufacturing industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Formal quality assurance certifications desirable. Professional inspection qualification considered as asset (CWB, NACE, CGSB, ANST).
- Ability to work under limited supervision and initiative to plan execute the department activities and scheduling.
- Computer literacy including a knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
- Customer communication skills.
- Tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to facilitate collaboration within multi-function teams to focus people’s energy and attention to deliver agreed solutions to unforeseen issues.
- Technical, analytical, presentation, organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
