**JOB PURPOSE**:
Terrace Heights is Boyle Street’s Supportive Housing program. The program has 47 self-contained units designed to support those with complex needs who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. Terrace Heights will operate through the philosophies of Housing First and Harm Reduction. Programming will be recovery focused, providing supports that lead residents to healthy and connected lives. The team will work in collaboration with the resident, internal and external stakeholders in completing care plans that are person-centered, provide choice, and are flexible and adaptive to meet residents by using strength-based approaches.

The Assistant Manager will work in close collaboration with the Manager of Supportive Housing to oversee the maintenance of case plans that are person-centered, provide choice, and are flexible and adaptive to meet resident needs. In partnership with the Manager of Supportive Housing, the Assistant Manager will ensure the guiding values of Boyle Street Community Services are upheld amongst staff and in all activities and services undertaken at Terrace Heights.

**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Participate in hiring and provide ongoing support and supervision for support workers at Terrace Heights.
- Provide leadership that will create and maintain a well-motivated, competent, and multi-disciplinary team
- Overseeing the operations of Terrace Heights in the absence of the Manager.
- Ensuring the site is fully staffed.
- Assist in the management of effective systems for intake and assessment of referrals, and the delivery of services.
- Assist in planning and facilitating team meetings and reflections.
- Support in integrating and facilitating Cultural activities and ceremonies.
- Implement strategies that support residents in meeting the goals laid out in their case plans.
- Provide a safe and dignified living environment for individuals moving into Terrace Heights.
- Assess barriers and needs in order to assist, support, and advocate on behalf of the residents.
- Maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders through various means of communication.
- De-escalate conflicts and respond to crisis situations including emergency and overdose response.
- Coordinate referrals to other support services including Alberta Supports, Homecare, Cultural programming, etc.
- Work collaboratively with external service providers including but not limited to: Housing First teams, Homecare, AHS, EPS, and other community supports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.

- Able to work within an Indigenous Cultural lens.
- Familiar with local community resources.
- Able to plan and make decisions in a timely, organized, and appropriate manner
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point).
- A strong commitment to upholding the guiding philosophies, values, and beliefs of BSCS.
- Certification in First-Aid, CPR, and Naloxone administration.
- Criminal Record and Child Intervention Checks (results will be reviewed on a case by case basis).

**Experience**:

- At least one year experience in leading and building teams
- At least two years’ experience delivering community-based services
- Knowledge of landlord and tenant legislation is an asset
- Experience working with adult populations who have experienced homelessness, mental illnesses, and substance use is an asset.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices, harm reduction principles, motivational interviewing skills and cognitive behavioral techniques.
- Understanding and appreciation of the history of Canada’s Indigenous people, and their cultur
