**Company Overview**:
We are excited to announce the opening of our café on Hess Street in Hamilton, Ontario. Our cozy café features a small kitchen with a focus on baking and prep-heavy items. We are starting with a small but carefully curated menu, and as we gain confidence, we plan to expand and explore new culinary possibilities. Our goal is to create a welcoming space where guests can enjoy delicious pastries and delightful meals. Our hours of operation will be 8am - 6pm and eventually stay open later on Thursday - Saturday. We are anticipating opening weekend July 5-6, 2024 so it is a quick turn around time.

**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and execute a menu focusing on pastries and other prep-heavy items, starting with breakfast and lunch offerings.
- Collaborate with management and staff to curate a menu that reflects the café's ethos and appeals to our clientele.
- Source high-quality, locally sourced ingredients to ensure freshness and flavor in every dish.
- Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, baking, and plating.
- Maintain inventory levels and control food costs to ensure profitability.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff to uphold quality and consistency in food preparation.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.

**Qualifications**:

- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role.
- Strong culinary skills, particularly in pastry making, and a passion for creating delicious baked goods.
- Excellent knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, including possession of a valid Food Handlers certificate.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Creative thinker with the ability to develop unique menu concepts.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

**Compensation**:

- Hourly wage: $18 - $23, depending on experience.
