**WHAT YOU’LL DO**:
The Social Worker in the MHS In-Patient Program is an experienced mental health clinician and an integral part of a multidisciplinary team who provides psychosocial assessment and a range of treatments and interventions for person experiencing serious mental illness and their families. The Social Worker also provides information, consultation, and education to members of the In-Patient Team, other hospital staff and the community on matters relating to mental health concerns.

**WHAT YOU’LL BRING**:
Master’s Degree in Social Work

Minimum of 3 years supervised experience working with adults with serious mental illness including individual, family and group work

Minimum 2 years’ experience in interdisciplinary and interagency cooperation

Member of the Ontario College of Certified Social Workers

**WHO YOU ARE**:
Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and their treatment, adult development, family life cycle and symptoms theory.

Demonstrates model of comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment including screening for serious mental illness, mental status, suicide risk and cognitive status; martial and family assessment; short-term and long-term treatment of individuals, couples and families; group psychotherapy; crisis intervention/counselling and discharge planning; psychoeducation; case management

Commitment to multi-disciplinary, collaborative and systemic models of practice and assessment

Ability to assess and treat adults and families using an integrated model of practice

Ability to develop recommendations which include use of hospital and community resources and the ability to work with these systems in development of treatment and discharge planning

Flexibility in presentation and use of self

Knowledge and skill in working with a full range of adult disorders

Knowledge of appropriate community resources

Demonstrated advocacy/brokering skills

Demonstrated ability to work independently and also be an effective member of the interdisciplinary team
