**What we will ask of you**:
The Social Worker monitors, and evaluates treatment plans to provide developmental assessments and supports to individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, or other diagnosis. The Social Worker provides supportive counselling in the areas of trauma, grief and emotional regulation. The Social Worker builds capacity in the areas of healthy living, identifies treatment targets and plans, researches evidence based treatment models, monitors, and evaluates treatment plans to produce desired changes in the client’s status and their family to improve their quality of life. The Social worker will be part of the multi-disciplinary team of Autism Services.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Provide developmental assessment and a range of treatments and interventions for children/youth and their families with Autism, developmental disabilities, mental illness, or suspected mental illness.
- Implement goal-oriented, time-limited, treatment & psycho educational strategies, including such modalities as cognitive behavioural therapy, short-term solution-focused therapy, and psycho-education groups.
- Develop a supportive and professional rapport with clients ensuring that treatment is matched with the individual’s understanding and ability to participate successfully.
- Collaborate with Canopy teams to provide mediation, advocacy, education, and training to client, family members and community agencies.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of client background and history, including medical/psychiatric information and reports from other services.
- Use direct observation, data collection, research, and standardized assessment tools.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans.

**Qualifications**:

- Master’s Degree in Social Work and Undergraduate Degree in related area.
- Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing.
- 1-3 years of direct experience working with children, youth and adults with developmental and intellectual disability includes an Autism Spectrum Disorder and other diagnoses is an asset.
- 1-3 years of experience providing a broad range of clinical services.
- 1-3 years of experience in mental health and/or addictions.
- 1-3 years of experience counselling individuals, families, and groups in crisis intervention, mental health, addictions, conflict resolution, trauma and grief.
- Valid G-Class driver’s license for the Province of Ontario, access to reliable transportation and have valid proof of automobile insurance with driving for business purposes and a minimum liability of two million dollars.
