- WHAT YOU’LL DO: _
- The Social Worker in the MHS In-Patient Program is an experienced mental health clinician and an integral part of a multidisciplinary team who provides psychosocial assessment and a range of treatments and interventions for person experiencing serious mental illness and their families. The Social Worker also provides information, consultation, and education to members of the In-Patient Team, other hospital staff and the community on matters relating to mental health concerns. _
- WHAT YOU’LL BRING: _
- Master’s Degree in Social Work _
- Minimum of 3 years supervised experience working with adults with serious mental illness including individual, family and group work _
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in interdisciplinary and interagency cooperation _
- Member of the Ontario College of Certified Social Workers _
- WHO YOU ARE: _
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and their treatment, adult development, family life cycle and symptoms theory. _
- Demonstrates model of comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment including screening for serious mental illness, mental status, suicide risk and cognitive status; martial and family assessment; short-term and long-term treatment of individuals, couples and families; group psychotherapy; crisis intervention/counselling and discharge planning; psychoeducation; case management _
- Commitment to multi-disciplinary, collaborative and systemic models of practice and assessment _
- Ability to assess and treat adults and families using an integrated model of practice _
- Ability to develop recommendations which include use of hospital and community resources and the ability to work with these systems in development of treatment and discharge planning _
- Flexibility in presentation and use of self _
- Knowledge and skill in working with a full range of adult disorders _
- Knowledge of appropriate community resources _
- Demonstrated advocacy/brokering skills _
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and also be an effective member of the interdisciplinary team _
